Rumor is that the WH is considering a full change in direction regarding covid. This is the last ditch effort before the narrative change.
Their approach isn’t working so downplaying Joey’s failure by pushing Covid to the side is their only hope.

Here's the silver lining for the left. The overall population of SA is younger, countries with older demos may experience different levels of severity.
