On or off. Are you on the Deboer train or off it?

Put your replys on record. Will Boner be a success or a failure. I see alot of people writing him off because they don't like the hire. Call me a shameless doog but I think he will be successful here. I'm a boner believer until I see different. What are you?

I think he’ll be ok. 8-10 wins preseason but I’m not expecting him to be a yearly threat win the conference.
-
We aspire to be the next Utah.
-
Define success. My definition of it is likely a much higher standard than the athletic department’s.
The odds are very, very low that he is successful enough to win a playoff game or Rose Bowl. -
That’s probably about right.TXDawg said:We aspire to be the next Utah.

I still believe it was a discount hire but I'm gonna LIPO. I'll jump on the train if DeBoner can at least bring home the Braxton Clemen Memorial Trophy next year
-
LIPO

He sucks until he doesn't. I haven't moved!

My inner Doog says he will be good. Inner Doog and reality are two separate things....lipo

I would’ve felt better with Haener. Hate to say it.
-
I had a different train in mind
-
Better than Jimmy, worse than Peterman.
Sark without the drinking problem. So far.
-
If a single QB, especially of Haener’s caliber, is the deciding factor in a program’s success, that program is doomed to mediocrity or worse. See 2021 LSU & Clemson.Quietcowskee said:I would’ve felt better with Haener. Hate to say it.

I was the lead promoter (pumper?) of DeBoer and I mostly like his hires. Courtney Morgan was a great get. Beckterfield too. I trust his judgement on Huff and Adams, especially because Adams kept JB and Boston in the fold and Huff / Morgan should keep Big Josh home.
Would love to see Juice Brown get a good corner and safety for this class. Beckterfield / Morgan need to nab that DL from CA who is currently committed to Michigan.
I see a Pac-12 North title in year 2 or 3. -
@Mad_Son told me to never get on a train.
-
-
I want him to succeed but I fear we've gotten ourselves into a Mike Bellotti situation.
-
I'm on the train. That said, I've worked at a grocery store for 18 years and my wife is twice the woman I married. I might not be the best person to ask.
-
Off. He might be somewhat successful, but do I think he will win a Rose Bowl with us?

Neither have I.MikeDamone said:He sucks until he doesn't. I haven't moved!

I suspect DeBoer will find a a way to over perform with what he has. But if he can't land transformational recruits, over-perform turns us into the next Utah which has been drilled to death here - but yeah, without a recruiting turn around 8-10 wins a year, the occasional conf championship game and a bowl game in Vegas or New Mexico.
-
Actually, yeah, a lot like Petersen. At least Petersen was bolstered by some of Sark's recruits at firstLawDawg1 said:

On the train, seated by an emergency exit. because trusting UW or Amtrak is a terrible idea

Think about it. Who expected any of these coaches to be highly successful?
Lambo
Neuheisel
Gilby
Tyrone
Sark
CP
Lake
Ironically, I probably thougth Gilby (12-0) and Lake would do the best out of all these guys, at least in their first year, when they were hired.
It's a crapshoot, keep emotions out of it. -
If they don’t pop by year 3 they most likely suck. Kept lambo, Gilby, Tyrone, and sark too long.Kingdome_Urinals said:Think about it. Who expected any of these coaches to be highly successful?

Just no..
I expect deboer to be just good enough to never get fired but never really getting to the top of the mountain. So I expect this question to be asked every year.
