Petersen likes Campbell and Aranda for the Huskies

I wouldn't be disappointed with Smith even though he's not living up to UW standards in Corvallis. His rebuilding job was worse, a lot worse than anyone in recent memory.
And I can't see him stumbling against shitty teams like Cal and Colorado with a UW roster.
Seeing them in person they are clearly well coached and he's winning games with a Camas quarterback and shitty Chance Nolan.
If we're going the in conference route kill shot the beavs with this hire because Cal and Stanford ain't improving, and he can beat Oregon and Utah. -
This is a safety net for the writer if he’s wrong. Very Eklund likeMad_Son said:"He added that Cal’s Justin Wilcox and Oregon State’s Jonathan Smith would also be targets."

I don't hate the idea of Smith either. Cornvalley isn't an easy place to win. Since it's obvious they're not interested in first tier coaches...

So we are now accepting Babushka? WTF. Will Babushka beat Oregon, Utah, and SC year in or year out or just once is a while. Is that what we want/need? If so, the dumbing down of expectations has won. Mission accomplished there.
-
Team plays hard and squeezes a lot of points out of lightly recruited players. Leads p12 in rushing, averaging 33 pts a game, 433 yards a game.LawDawg1 said:So we are now accepting Babushka? WTF. He would have to suck ass at recruiting not to have UW contending every year. Fired his DC at fucking Beavlet for losing a few games.
We're accepting a Fresneck coach who isn't exactly dominating the MW. 3 other teams have his conference record with, according to this board, mediocre coaches. -
How many years has this happened? Just one? Larger sampling please.Kingdome_Urinals said:

I suppose you have a JD? Mix in some inference bro. These are this years stats. Now get back to Marbury v. Madison.LawDawg1 said:

Smith and Wilcox are the same to me. Why do people like Smith? Because he’s offensively-minded and we have a shitcan offense?
-
I’d take Smith over Wilcox.MelloDawg said:Smith and Wilcox are the same to me. Why do people like Smith? Because he’s offensively-minded and we have a shitcan offense?
Then light myself on fire. -
10 other candidates I would want first but he still might win the north with a similar qb. So there’s ghat I guess.MelloDawg said:Smith and Wilcox are the same to me. Why do people like Smith? Because he’s offensively-minded and we have a shitcan offense?

He is doing it with OSU resources and recruits. That ain't easy.LawDawg1 said:So we are now accepting Babushka? WTF. But I doubt he really wants the Washington job. -
Imagine doing this at Cal, where it is impossible to win...MontlakeBridgeTroll said:

Imagine losing to Colorado, WSU, and Cal in that same year and wanting that coach. Mind boggling coaching desires.MontlakeBridgeTroll said:

I don’t think he is anyone’s preference. Just a babushka > Wilcox thing. Tallest midget.LawDawg1 said:

The fact that we’re talking so much about Babushka is probably a bad sign, but if he is really going to turn down the opportunity to be head coach at UW vs. continuing at Oregon State, well … shit. And, WDWHA.
-
Read above. “I wouldn’t be disappointed….” And I don’t hate the idea of Smith” seem to be different than what your post suggests. Burn it down if it is either Smith or Babushka.AtomicDawg said:

Babushka is a good fit for a school that doesn't have super high expectations (3 win seasons are ok every once in awhile) and depends on the transfer portal rather than high school recruiting. He would not do well as HC at UW. Out of two bad choices, Wilcox would be better for UW

Just like agents telling these media dipshits that UW is in the hunt for Aranda and Campbell.
UW's place in line gonna be determined by how much money Cohen brings to the table

Jonathan Smith ain’t coming. He’s had plenty of experience with UW’s entitled fanbase.haie said:

Dude would be a solid hire considering what he’s done at OSU in a short period of time.
Methinks he’s a Beaver to the core, though.
OSU has been a grave yard for head coaches over the past 50 years, exempting Mike Riley (part of his tenures) and Dennis Erickson.
Look what it did to Gary Anderson, after his success at Wisconsin and Utah State.
Babushka was the QB that put OSU back on the map.
Walk-on and 4 year starter at OSU.
Smart, smart guy IMHO.
-
Smith would be pretty good at UW. I don't doubt it for a moment. He'd win a big game here and there, beat on the bad teams, and drop 1-2 per year to teams he should beat. Solid results and may even touch the edge of greatness once in 20 years.
I think you have to shoot higher, even if that means more risk (like DeBoner). -
Agree he’s not coming. Agreed he probably hates our fanbase. Agreed he’s a beav.trublue said:

Gary Anderson quit Wisconsin to fail at Oregon State and quit. Horrible example. And Riley and Dennis Erickson, for their tenures, isn’t half bad. Bad take.

Babushka has the “it” factor.MelloDawg said:Smith and Wilcox are the same to me. Why do people like Smith? Because he’s offensively-minded and we have a shitcan offense?
Some people are great position coaches; some are great coordinators; very few have the tools to be a successful head coach.

My guesses right now:
LSU - Dave Aranda
USC - Lane Kiffin
UW - Kalen DeBoer or Dave Clawson (don't see UW paying the buyouts of other, less attractive coaches like Harsin, Hafley, or Wilcox).
Florida - Billy Napier
Luke Fickell and Matt Campbell stay where they are as Fickell wants for tOSU, ND, or Michigan job to open up and Matt Campbell also waits (may also consider Nebraska if Scott Frost gets the boot after 2022). -
I think Washington has a better shot at Kiffin than USC and I think they have zero shotHFNY said:My guesses right now:

JFC Oregon people are myopic. Sure dude he's right about to get on his yacht with fancy coffee and 10x easier recruiting, but then hears the Beavlet fight song and changes his mind and goes back to begging players off the transfer portal or taking skill guys UW dropped and eating reser potato salad. -

Didn’t Petersen likes Lake for Huskies?
