According to AAA, Idaho’s average price for regular is $3.70 per gallon, which is four cents less than a month ago and $1.38 more than a year ago. Meanwhile, the U.S. average currently sits at $3.40, which is 21 cents more than a month ago and $1.27 more than a year ago.

Avergage gas price here in California in 2018 was $3.51 a gallon with only one month being over $3.71 a gallon. Average price right now for a gallon of gas is nearly $4.70 a gallon and it's been over $4.00 a gallon since May. Hondo the pathological liar stikes again.

But the speculative market changes the dynamic so it's much more complicated than purely supply of oil and miles driven. As I've shown, there's periods in time when supply was going up and so were prices. And periods of time when supply was flat as prices went up. Of course you'll find periods when demand went down as so did prices, like spring and summer of 20 with covid.
