1 you can't win at Cal
2 won at Cal -
had a pretty good run when he was at fresno as well.
i really really wanted him but instead we? hired ty. -
I'd take Wilcox as HC, Tedford as OC, Peter Sirmon and Tosh as Co-DCs.

Wtf is the obsession with Wilcox?HFNY said:I'd take Wilcox as HC, Tedford as OC, Peter Sirmon and Tosh as Co-DCs.

I’ll take Wilcox only if Evan Superior Culture Weaver is the LB coach

Where is Tosh?

Had to check the date on the thread. Thought someone bumped this from 2008.

Given what we've had, I would be excited about Tedford.

Coaching searches are hard. You either have to find someone really good who's previously gone undiscovered, or you're recycling a guy who's (most of the time) looked bad somewhere else and you think your situation can be the right combo to make him good. Wilcox and Tedford have both looked like they can coach at times, Tedford over a longer timeline. But how about option 3 - none of the above?

Tedford with UW's resources intrigues me.2Z4 said:Coaching searches are hard. If UW hires Wilcox, it’s pulling the cord. Jeebus, hiring an Oregon grad from Junction City lol. No mind that the fella has been an abject failure at foobaw coaching.

If he wasn't 60 years old with a history of heart problems that caused him to stop coaching, I'd feel the same.DerekJohnson said:

That's a fair rebuttal. But there are workarounds...2Z4 said:

His peak is a Holiday Bowl win. (And two losses.)
I can’t believe this is happening. -
It will be special to watch the crowd turn to UW Medical Center and wave their purple Pom-poms to Coach Tedford
-
Wilcox is probably reaching out to schools for obvious reasons and hoping that his handful of wins over the top schools the last 2-3 seasons can convince someone. Plus because he was at Cal he kept bleeding his best assistants.
I think even UW knows they can't afford to take a risk on a guy whose best year equalled one of Pete's worst years in a 3 way tie for 2nd in the north.
I don't think he's a bad coach but I don't want a west coast offense. I guess he could put up points at times when Garbers was on. -

What in da fuq is that?DucksFC said:

Wilcox is a good coach who I'd expect to land somewhere just below where Petersen had the program. I think he's es relatively low risk in that I can't picture him failing to win 8-10 games per year at UW. Better than Sark and light years better than Lake. Not good enough though. That's really the risk with him...satisfactory mediocrity. It's a big risk too.
Do better. It's time for UW to branch out and bring in someone new. Be the program that launches a career for a hungry, promising young coach who has to prove that he deserved the promotion.
I'd have a hard time saying no to Tedford though. I know he fizzled at Cal but it took him one season to turn their recruiting around and make them the primary threat to USC in the conference. He's tanned, rested and ready. He might top out like Wilcox or burn out quickly again, but I'd bet anything he'd get the program on track. -

Your inability to grasp the engrish language makes myself and @FireCohen feel like rogue scholars. -
Tedford is 60 years old and retired from a much lower pressure job for health reasons.
He would make a good OC but he isn’t a HC hire at this point. -
This is both amazing and terrifying at the same time. I am aroused yet I want to gouge my eyes out.DucksFC said:

Sounds like you’re talking about Jimmy Lake 2019. But give him a fat paycheck and he coasted.chuck said:Be the program that launches a career for a hungry, promising young coach who has to prove that he deserved the promotion.

And a million dollar defensive coordinator

If Wilcox hires a good OC and brings GA, Tosh, and Heyward with him back to UW then I might be ok with the hire. Won't get me excited but at least we'll have some recruiting sizzle.
