We are a safety school

Kids are locking in their spot with us to be safe and moving to greener pastures.
This isn't about one position or one struggling assistant coach, these are commits from both sides of the ball and four different position groups.
We have leveled the fuck down.
And there's no telling how many more levels we will go.

Thank you for highlighting the fact that it's not just one or two or three shitty assistant coaches.
I keep racking my brain to understand how Jimmy pulled the Buddas, Byrons, Moldens, Irvins, and other blue-chip DBs and seemed to be aggressive ("attacking" eye roll) in those efforts. But as HC, he can't close.
Is it really as simple as Jimmy can sell but can't close? Results seem to be saying yes. Doesn't help 3/4 of our staff can't even sell to get into these kids' minds that UW is, err was, a legit contender. -
dNc stop bullying our? coaches
-
Jimmy emphasizes quality of life for his coaches. Talks about it all the time.
Cristobal is on his coaches asses. In fact, his foot is often up their asses. Total moster dickhead. Ex assistants come out about it.
One has a bunch of soft, lazy assistants (with good QOLs).
The other gets shit done (while burning out assistants).
Oh! Also, Jimmy looks out for grad assistants and QA youngsters too. Gives them jobs when none of the other Head Coaches would. Shows loyalty to the WHOLE staff.
Meanwhile Ebenzor Cristobal only hires brand name coaches. Shows no loyalty to the little guys that help the program.
Let's all take a moment to appreciate Jimmy making life better for the staff.
Afterall, isn't that what its all about? Smuggly knowing our football teams has happier staff than Oregon's while they get their shit pushed in by Oregon on the recruiting trail and our players get their shit pushed in by Oregon on the field?
Three cheers for Jimmy!

It’s sad to see how far Race has fallen. -
Jimmy has coached 4 games
Petersen had 6 years

Great recruiting
Maybe I'm considering the source -
There's a chance Jimmy is just an egotistical asshole from his rather quick ascendance to being a head coach of a pretty good school and program with resources. And people don't want to work nor play for that.
There's a chance the coaches are either lazy or don't want to pander to kids because for some ungodly reason they don't think they have to with the portal and their self-aggrandized development.
There's a chance Jimmy knows he's just going to ride out the senior/junior classes and he's confident he can bolt to the NFL and doesn't give a fuck what he hands off to his successor.
There's a chance UW fell off the map when Pete and his AD decided to self impose a death penalty for 2 years.
There's a chance everyone sucks ass and you have to fire them all.
A parent of a committed kid has sang nothing but praises, but that's not going to tell you everything either.
To know it's one thing at this point, we won't find out for a bit, but these recruiting results are fucking disturbing. We need 10+ more players to fill out this class. -
Petersen won his biggest games with a bunch of recruits you guys would fucking hate.
Oklahoma, Georgia, Viriginia Tech, some damn good and Tuff TCU teams
All with Kellen Moore and a bunch of 2 star scrubs.
At UW he recruited better and lost the same caliber of game. Over and over.
Let. It. Fucking. Play. Out. -
In the case of Mells, Jones, and Nabou this is absolutely true. I believe Nabou even told Ruth or one of those other guys that he only committed to UW because they were his best offer at the time and he wanted to save a spot (and this is an O'dea kid). There was absolutely no reason to take a commitment from any of those kids at that time. In the case of Nabou it's even worse because he blew up and UW probably would have been the odds on favorite to land him after everything played out. Because you stupidly took his commitment so he could "save his place" and then had to tell him to fuck off, you effectively removed yourself from the running.dnc said:James Lake has taken a program that Pete elevated to the first or second spot in recruiting in the conference and turned it into a fucking safety school. With Morrison and Tafiti, it's just lazy recruiting or fucktarded strategy. If reports are correct, they secured verbal commitments from both but then allowed them to go home for 2 weeks without publicly committing. There's a theory out there that Jimmy did this purposefully to space out the commitments to show that UW was "building momentum". Whatever the case was, the coaches clearly just went on vacation afterwards and allowed other schools to easily flip the kids. -
Not sure about the spacing commitments out portion, but Will Harris def went on vacation after that visit. In a now deleted tweet or insta post he posted he was on his way to a coaches conference in florida before going on vacay.bananasnblondes said:

These coaches are either lazy or fucktarded because they cannot read a recruitment/relationship for their lives. After that 'big recruiting 'weekend, all we heard from "insiders" was how we closed everybody on that visit. If the sources talking to insiders are communicating this, how purple tinted do you think our coaches see these recruitments.... -
Welcome to Washington's version of the Helfrich years. You'll have a good season this year riding with Pete's guys, then a small decline in 2023, with an epic collapse in 2024. The question then becomes, does the administration have the balls to pull the plug on Lake after year four, or will they give him year five?
Remember, Oregon won a Rose Bowl and made a title game with Helfrich. While so far Lake has "won the north" -

Close, but instead of an “epic collapse,” the portal will enable a nice 7 win sark into eternity.greenblood said:Welcome to Washington's version of the Helfrich years. I don’t think Lake will completely collapse. He can coach. He can recruit too. He’s just going to have to be humbled into realizing he needs to.greenblood said:Welcome to Washington's version of the Helfrich years. If we’re a safety school why can’t we coach up Asa?
-
Just accept 7-6 for perpetuity. I have. Football at UW is over.

Does that mean we get to lose the final and stick it up Oregon fan's ass for the next 10 years popping off that our '21/'22 Natty loser >the Ducks '14 Natty loser?greenblood said:Welcome to Washington's version of the Helfrich years. Does it get him to the real goal in the League (iltcit)? Honest question, I don’t know how that works.dnc said:

Kawasaki is the safety net that slick Jimmy will not have this year. Going to be great calling for death of certain dc that can’t recruit

They can't close on their "A" guys off their big board, so are having to hopefully sign their plan B (or even lower rated) guys.
Too many of the kids that are verbally/silently committing to this staff are using UW as their plan B back-up school until a better offer comes along. -
