The assignment is voluntary - like voluntarily asking for overtime work. They get paid for those hours of playing pretend cops playing catch and release. Getting paid is okay, but after a hundred days of catch and release, having bricks thrown at you, lasers shined in your eyes, being called every name in the book by these children, no support from the Portland mayor and city council and the media, you hit someone who is illegally protesting and then you are faced with jail and the loss of your job - then it's time to stop volunteering.Kaepsknee said:The assignment is voluntary and all will remain on the force in different assignments.

I read a story about an off duty cop who got killed while trying to help someone then some dude stole her car while she was dead on the side of the street.
This was Seattle. So Portland and everything north would be good
