Appears the reality is that nobody ever really listens to the "talk"
On the plus side they did shoot him in the leg so Lebron shouldn't have a problem with this one.

When is the riot?

First off there aren't any dad's.
Second off the talk is most likely about not goin out like a punk and to stop snitchin -
The Talk is mostly bullshit. I don't doubt some parents, black, brown, white and Asian give it, but the idea that it's a special concern unique to black parents only, and part of their ongoing oppression and suffering, is demonstrably false as the parade of these incidents continues, unabated.
But why not lie about it? The media lies about shit daily, politicians can't tell the truth with a gun to their heads, melodrama and juvenile delinquency runs rampant on 90% of our college campuses, and thrives within academia, where bias, lies and projection rule the day.
So why not lie and dupe people into giving you special treatment and free shit? There's a sucker born every minute, right? -
I never called it the "talk" but I did inform all three of my boys that they should never mouth off to the police. There's no upside to it. I also tried to give them what I just considered to be common sense advice. Keep your hands on the wheel, don't go digging under the seat or in the glove box and be respectful and polite. Didn't feel I had to do this because my kids are black did it because it just seemed like good advice.TurdBomber said:The Talk is mostly bullshit. None of my boys are angels. But knock on wood nobody has ever been arrested or in any legal trouble. -
You teach your kids to not mouth off to the police by not allowing them to mouth off to you.SFGbob said:

Everyone I know got some version of "the talk" growing up. But seeing James Woods in The Onion Fields showed me that cops have a reason to be anxious and defensive, too.SFGbob said:

And I can't believe the shit they have to deal with today, with the tinted windows, uncooperative drivers, the omnipresence of some behavior-changing drug, and the full knowledge that they'll get blamed with 20-20 hindsight for anything that goes wrong, no matter how big of an asshole or criminal the driver is.
Of course there are good cops and bad cops, but when I hear or read smart-asses lumping them all together as one group, I know I'm dealing with someone who can't think for themselves and hasn't grown into adulthood yet. -
There you go. A widely embraced value in black street culture is "Don't Snitch." How cool that is. How protective of criminality and criminals at the expense of your family and community that is.Pitchfork51 said:First off there aren't any dad's.

When being cool with your homeys and protecting criminals is more important to young men than building a life, you've already lost the war. -
Most people, regardless of color don’t need the talk. Why? Because the vast majority of people aren’t going to decide the time and place to settle a legal issue isn’t on the side of the road while wrestling with a cop. It’s pretty intuitive actually.TurdBomber said:The Talk is mostly bullshit. You're speaking Adult-Speak. Most of these subjects stop developing into adulthood when they turn 12 or 13 and have learned that they can lie and manipulate their way through life by blaming and abusing other people. And there will always be a family or community member nearby to make a laundry list of excuses for their anti-social and criminal behavior.MikeDamone said:

My kids were told that if they were an ass to a cop I would fully support them getting their ass kicked.
