It sounds like his story is this:backthepack said:This kid is good. If we’re taking lower rate guys i’m taking a kid like this over a Haener 10 out of 10 times.
-didnt really play much as a sophomore
-had an amazing junior covid season
Biggins bumped him from an unknown to the #34 qb based on his Jr season. Said he could grt another big bump if he continues to impress -
From what I've read it sounds like he got way bigger in a year and that had a lot to do with his improvement.bananasnblondes said:

Have no idea if this guy is good, but if he even has legitimate P5 talent, it’s a win.
If you get a QB in this class that is willing to work hard, develop so that IF his number is called he is ready, but embraces the playing school aspect so that he stays on the roster for 3-4 years (sort of like Magna Carta) ... that’s a win
Problem with all of the transferring, particularly with QBs, is that there are only so many starting jobs out there -
This is why for most players I don’t look at the surface level stuff ...RoadDawg55 said:
Yankoff seemed so fucking good based on his Hudl.chuck said:
Jeez man I'm surprised more people aren't raving about his highlights. He's somewhere between Colson Yankoff and Cyler Miles as a runner, and that's good, but has plus arm strength. He also throws from different angles as the situation calls for, all with a quick release and velocity. He also throws some nice rainbows that drop right in.Neighbor2972 said:https://www.hudl.com/video/3/11092924/607f09d9ab92961804fea263
He's definitely not bad. At this point he's probably the best non committed QB we could get
I dont see anything not to like. I'd be happy with him even if a top QB was considered a big priority this year.
The problem with Hudl is that it’s just a few minutes of highlights. I was a good (but white and slow) high school player, but my Hudl would have made me look like a legit baller. Any decent player looks good based on their 20 best plays.
Some guys are so good, a Hudl is all you need to see. For most recruits tho, you won’t be able to form an educated opinion unless you watch the Hudl, see some testing numbers, look at their stats, and guess how tapped out their potential is.
Truly elite guys are easy to see, but there is such a glut of guys in the 3 and 4 star rankings and evaluating those guys properly is crucial to a program like UW. A lot of those guys are over ranked because of their relationship with the TBS rankers, their high school team, inflated production, etc. 4 star guys without commutable offers from the elite schools seem to almost always suck.
For a QB can you play with nuance (for example don’t state down your receivers) and can you throw a ball that receivers catch in stride
For RBs it’s do you have vision and whether or not you dance (works in HS but rarely in college) or are you willing to plant your foot, lower the pads, and get north/south (one of the reasons I loved Sunday’s film)
For DL/OLBs it’s do you show hustle and keep pursuing the play even when it’s being run away from you
Being successful at the highest level is executing the fundamentals over and over at the highest of levels -
Can't wait to come bump this thread in three years when we get the 2024 Heisman campaign bus rolling.
-
I really like his hudl, actually. Getting him in a year where we weren't going to get a highly rated kid is kind of huge.
You never know how QBs are gonna pan out, but this kid for sure has a chance to be a starter. -
The huge improvement from sophomore to junior year is a good sign. The highlights looked good too. He looks like he has a good arm. I don’t hate the pick up at all.bananasnblondes said:

Gotta admit I'm dooging pretty hard about this guy. Reading this made me watch his highlights again plus the other clips in the article. He's a fucking stud. I'm sure there are still valid but faggy expert critiques about how he has a long way to go because he isn't pointing his toes properly or he throws too many balls off his back foot and shit like that. Point is he's a big, mobile QB that can also throw and has the arm to make big time throws.
It's a steal to grab him up before his senior season. If he makes another leap anything like he did between his soph and junior years he'll end up getting chased by everyone. -
You guys might as well hate him now. The dooging iver him is quiet now, but it will get loud this fall.FireCohen said:

Big mistake for anyone to sleep on this guy. He has a combination of abilities we haven't had at UW in a while as a big QB with an arm AND mobility. He's raw and a late bloomer, but watch out. -

Skillset looks good and the 19:1 TD to INT ratio matches the skillset. Good size, strong arm. Not much to complain about and he was a great pull. We were never getting a highly rated QB with a R-Fr starter and a 5 star true freshman as the backup.chuck said:

Washington, Brown, Columbia, FIU and Nevada. Forget about the low rankings.....with an offer list like that, people that get paid to coach and recruit for a living obviously see the immense potential in this big, rocket armed, mobile QB.
The transition to Doogman 2.0 is complete. -
When you get an opportunity to go head to head against a murderer’s row like Brown, Columbia, and FIU, you don’t hesitate, you just do it. Even if you lose, you’re sending a message to the rest of the conference that you're not afraid of mixing it up with the big boys.CarlosDanger said:Washington, Brown, Columbia, FIU and Nevada. TBF, we got Huard last year, so I doubt any highly ranked QB would jump at the opportunity to sit behind Sam for 2-3 years and transfer out
-
Stupid attempt at getting some half brain praise via the low hanging fruit. Watch his highlights. He's a high end QB recruit who they found before he blew up, in a year where reeling in a high end QB was very unlikely.CarlosDanger said:Washington, Brown, Columbia, FIU and Nevada. The overall sentiment isn't completely misplaced. Recruiting is meh at best right now even after the big weekend. The QB just isn't one of the reasons why. -
This is loser mentality thinking. Big dick programs get 4* qbs every year. Especially with the transfer portal the way it is now. I think this kid has the possibility of being a decent get in the same way that Daniel Bridge-Gadd and Jake Haener did but I think is more of our coaches thinking they are smarter than everyone elsewhatshouldicareabout said:TBF, we got Huard last year, so I doubt any highly ranked QB would jump at the opportunity to sit behind Sam for 2-3 years and transfer out

Big dick programs do not get 4* QB’s every year. Oklahoma isn’t getting a 4* QB this year after getting the #1 QB last year.bananasnblondes said:

I was looking around and some do (and almost immediately transfer) but with a R-Fr starter and a 5* true freshman it was going to be hard. -
Yeah the benefit of taking a 3* QB is that they are more likely to stick around for 4-5 years even if they don't start. Although that hasn't been true for us recently.
Ideally you take a 3* QB in the same class as your 5* so you know they really want to be in the program (Like Mac Jones and Tua). -
They still won’t but they have a lot higher chance of staying 3 years and getting a degree before bouncing.Neighbor2972 said:Yeah the benefit of taking a 3* QB is that they are more likely to stick around for 4-5 years even if they don't start. Although that hasn't been true for us recently.
