Support among Americans is "declining" for providing undocumented immigrants with a pathway for citizenship, including among Democrats, according to a new poll.
The poll, conducted by Politico/Morning Consult and released Wednesday, shows that 43% of voters overall think undocumented immigrants currently living in the United States should have a citizenship pathway, a 14 percentage point decline since January.
With Democrats, support plunged from 72% to 57% during that time period. Meanwhile, only 1 in 4 Republicans backs the idea, a number that dropped by 10 percentage points.
Of those polled, another 19% said illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay and become legal residents, but not citizens, and 27% said they should be removed or deported.
Most people surveyed also said they think the United States is facing an illegal immigration crisis:
Crisis: 50%.
Facing a problem, but not a crisis: 34%.
Not facing a problem or a crisis: 9%.
Most people, however, said they believe "Dreamers," or young people who were brought to the United States as children, should be able to stay and become citizens:
Stay and become citizens, under certain requirements: 62%.
Stay and become legal residents, but not citizens: 16%.
Be removed or deported from the United States, 14%.
The idea of giving undocumented immigrants a way to become citizens has been popular for several years, but the new poll numbers show Democrats could be losing the battle of public opinion in the wake of GOP messaging.
Not exactly GOP messaging now is it?
And people forget that early in his term Trump offered Chuck and Nancy a Dreamers deal that they refuse to consider
The Dreamers remain popular among Americans because its the kids even though most are adults now. But its a good place to compromise

Biden Permits Media Coverage of Admin Migrant Camp Visit
President Joe Biden will meet with immigration advisers and top Cabinet officials on Wednesday while dispatching White House officials to a Texas resettlement facility as pressure mounts over a recent jump in migrant arrivals at the U.S. border.
The officials, along with several members of Congress, will travel to a refugee resettlement center in Carrizo Springs, Texas, the White House said in a statement, adding that it would also allow limited media coverage of the visit.
At the White House, Biden will meet with the heads of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, both of which are tasked with managing the migrants that have surged across the southern U.S. border with Mexico in recent weeks.
Journalists have been pressing the Biden administration to allow the news media access to the facilities, as pictures released this week have moved to highlight the crowded conditions.
Mighty white of Joe to allow the First Amendment to be followed -
Yep the polling sucks. Time for the dog and pony show
Enormously complex to redo what Trump already did and Joe fucked up day 1

So we're putting someone in charge who supports open borders and who has said that illegals should have government paid for healthcare and Welfare benefits. Cool.
-
Now imagine what the polling would be if the Press reported on it in the same way they did under Trump.

These are the best. Imagine a news reader whining about videos being leaked that cover the news they won'tSFGbob said:Now imagine what the polling would be if the Press reported on it in the same way they did under Trump.
