It will lift no one out of poverty.TheKobeStopper said:
I'm in favor of the 15 wage. At least that is ongoing.
Giving someone a check for a few thousand just means they'll spend it on bullshit and not their kids. Then we get a nice group of gangbanging shithead losers.
Forced military service. Mandatory abortion under an income threshold.
It's probably the only way to end this terrible cycle. -
Federal employees get $14,000 over 10 weeks off instead of $1400 one-time for taxpayers under $75,000 and helps skew math.
Yay!!! Progress!

How are they lifted out of poverty?
-
One time payments aren’t lifting anyone out of poverty. Bootlicking fucktards.

$15/hour isn’t the same in Phoenix as it is in Mullan, Idaho.Pitchfork51 said:

Pay the wage. Or someone will pay it for you. Now at the same time avoid anywhere where anyone makes a minimum wage.
You should have seen the garbage people in our warehouse before they hired this hardcore boomer ex navy guy lol.
I like him because I don't ever have to see those people anymore.
The office doesn't like him because he does boomer things like "I see you're on your phone alot"
The people working in accounting are like bitch so what? I make more than you? Go boss around shitheads -
I’m told winning $5400 playing the lottery is life changing
Or just buys you a jet ski -
It’s a transfer of wealth to the richest for the third time. One party system.

I'll just say it: Mullan, Idaho makes me sad. Swung through there once with a buddy for a beer. The whole town made me want to cry, but it was mostly the crooked-tooth'd barmaid with the Messican Lowrider paint job on her fingernails that did me in.NorthwestFresh said:

Government paying people more to stay home making under $40k or so is pretty influential in artificially driving low end wages up.HuskyJW said:

Everyone will go out and get a major new phone contract that gives them a FREE* phone. and in 6 months realize that they still have 24 months of $45 extra per month paying for the FREE phone. I advise investing in Apple for a few months while iPhone12 sales boom.
*Free as defined by our government and most followers of Bernie and AOC -
The idiot who tweeted that message out is a product of our educational system. Dumb as a sack of coal. Then you get to see the natural progression of dumbing down even further when you get the kobe's of the world who re-post complete stupidity.
Only an asshole would believe that giving "free" money to those who haven't earned it is going to pull them out of poverty. For fucks sake kobe, you are the class idiot. -
How many times have we discussed the plight of lottery winners as they the ride road to bankruptcy not long after the big win? if you haven't earned it, you're likely to waste it. Would love to think this is going towards food on the table, paying down debt, a move to a more affordable location. But in reality, that won't be the case.Bendintheriver said:The idiot who tweeted that message out is a product of our educational system. Dumb as a sack of coal. I don't think you can hire anyone at any business for less than 13-15 bucks an hour around CDA. I see fast food advertising a starting hourly of 13+.HuskyJW said:

But for the mentally ill, poverty in the US is tied almost exclusively to shitty choices people have made. Giving people money won't end poverty because most of these people will continue to make the very same shitty choices that got them into poverty in the first place. In fact giving them money will encourage many of them to make even more shitty choices.

This was the Bush approach to home ownership. He noted that homeowners had some good virtues, more employment, less criminal convictions, more marriages. Ergo, homeownership should be heavily subsidized to create good virtue. Unfortunately, correlation doesn't equal causation. One of the big factors behind the 2007-2008 housing collapse. Giving no down payment loans to people who had no ability to pay it back and then selling those to Fannie Mae turned out just like you think it would.SFGbob said:But for the mentally ill, poverty in the US is tied almost exclusively to shitty choices people have made.
