I like my First Amendment chilled

Democrats are waging an assault on the First Amendment, with two Democrat House lawmakers demanding answers from cable television providers on the role they play in the "spread of dangerous misinformation."
The letter, signed by Reps. Anna Eshoo, D-Calif., and Jerry McNerney, D-Calif., and released to the press Monday, targets only conservative-leaning outlets, including Fox News, Newsmax, and OANN.
On Wednesday, the House subcommittee on Communications and Technology of the Committee on Energy and Commerce is scheduled to hold a hearing on disinformation and extremism in media.
Cable service companies such as Comcast, AT&T, Spectrum, Dish, Verizon, Cox, and Altice all received the same letter on Monday pressing for answers on policies related to the spread of disinformation, rumors, and conspiracy theories on networks they carry.
The letter directly only assails conservative news networks Fox News, Newsmax, and OANN and accuses them of airing misinformation on various topics – among them, the coronavirus, the 2020 election, and the storming of the Capitol on Jan. 6.
You know I think I'll pass on unity with this bunch of fascist faggots.
This isn't private business this is the government threatening news outlets. Not tweeting about them but calling them on the carpet to get them to drop stations that don't follow government approved news
I you either support this or our silent about it we aren't friends. We're enemies.

Once again, "real" Conservative Dazzler has no problem with this. Have you also noticed that the "more fiscally responsible alternative" standard that compelled the "real" Conservative Dazzler to vote for Obama in 2012, didn't apply in 2020. Why it's almost as if Dazzler is nothing more than a partisan hack who's claim of being a "conservative" is a complete fucking fraud.

Newsmax and Fox already backpedaled on their election claims, albeit rather meekly, and OAN isn’t actual news. Haven’t read their coverage on the Capitol assault though, so I’ll refrain from speaking to that. This is more or less a centrist take.

Can we apply the same standards to the NYTimes and the WaPo with their coverage of the Trump colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election? How about their false claims about the cop being bludgeoned to death with a fire extinguisher? Should they be censored due to their false reporting?MelloDawg said:Newsmax and Fox already backpedaled on their election claims, albeit rather meekly, and OAN isn’t actual news. This isn't about whether you agree or disagree with what you see but you probably know that and just wanted to fag out the thread anyway
The hours and hours devoted to the Russia bullshit would be what a centrist would note but you're not a centrist. -

The rats have been trying to re-instate the "fairness doctrine" since Reagan (really it has been since Rush Limbaugh hit the airwaves). This is just another transparent angle to achieve the same goal. They see an opportunity with the majority of congress to erase a different point of view and silence half the country and by God they are going to give it a shot.
Its like the rats have completely forgotten spending 24-7 on fake news about Russian collusion. Digging through Kavanagh's high school yearbook and how what the rat media read in there was "proof" that Kavanaugh raped that bat shit crazy woman the left dragged in front of congress. Or how about the fix when bidens son and business associate both blew the whistle on that idiot biden and the press ignored it so Trump could lose.
My favorite lie by the left when it comes to the fairness doctrine was some rat congressman in the Midwest, while arguing for the fairness doctrine to silence Conservative voices, said we didn't need any government support for Conservative radio programs because we already had NPR. What a fucking hack liar.
This is the kind of assault on our rights and institutions that fascist bring about. It is precisely why we should all be ashamed we put these assholes in charge. It has been a month and change since that idiot biden and headboard Harris were "elected" and already some of my left of center and center friends are regretting their choice. I give them zero slack. -
Unless there's major pushback from the right, I don't think you have the foggiest idea how this all ends.HHusky said:frenemies?

You should be saying "I may not agree much with what Fox and OAN say, but trying to ban them from the airwaves is flat-out evil."MelloDawg said:Newsmax and Fox already backpedaled on their election claims, albeit rather meekly, and OAN isn’t actual news. Investigating why “the news” chose to uncritically promote baseless conspiracy theories isn’t quite the totalitarian crackdown you gals think it is.DerekJohnson said:

Watching these politicians fall about themselves in an effort to seem as some as possible for their rabid base is incredible.

Prohibit is there -
Prohibit isn't punish. If they "prohibit" it by requesting that the student athletics not do it, they are engaging in their form of the 1st Amendment and surely you don't oppose that.
We would like all of you not to kneel during the NA. We think there are better venues for you to protest. -
