I spent three days in Arles and hung out at night at this cafe across the street from the Coliseum. That open window on the left, I was sitting at a table when a nearby table starting bantering in Italian to a woman with long hair standing in that window. Someone yelled "Rapunzel!" and everybody broke up laughing. Anyway, that was the window where Gregor made his phone call demanding the conditions for returning the case. Seriously, though, I started my honeymoon in Nice because of Ronin. That, and it was way cheaper to fly into than anywhere in Italy. Cool fucking city! We spent our whole time there in the old city, where the car chase was filmed.

I went for a long walk through Arles and out into the countryside. I walked into a clearing -- and realized that it was a real bonafide gypsy camp. I had seen gypsies in Amboise but walking right through one of their camps -- wearing a Chicago Bulls t-shirt, was a different experience for young Stalin. Not 1968 (1971 and 1974) but both great car chase scene movies.
