The Lord of the Rings: The Two TowersIt took me seeing the shitshow that was the Game of Thrones night battle to appreciate how incredible the Helms Deep battle sequence is. The rest of the list has some good movies, but none set a genre defining standard like Two Towers did. Closest thing would be Grundle’s nod to 28 days later

The Lord of the Rings: The Two TowersDang. What a masterful list of movies from this year. Also shoutout to Chicago which was also from 2002 and actually won the Oscar. Gangs has maybe the greatest villain performance ever. Road to Perdition is Hanks at his absolute best, I actually prefer it to LA Confidential for film noir.
