Romar's teams were aggravating (in bounds plays, turnovers, fouls, free throws, offensive stagnation when they didn't have a playmaker at PG), but they generally played hard, aggressive, guard dominated and fast which is a very aesthetically pleasing combo.

Hop's teams are neither good nor well coached nor fun to watch which is just a miserable combination.

Those were lightning fast teams with a lot of local / regional talent. Obviously we need a new coach, someone that can get the local talent to stay home and can coach a hard to defend attack and smothering defense. Right now, Football and basketball ~ same issue, same results.

They weren’t very fun to watch past 2011. The Wroten and T-Ross team was frustrating. The Murray and Chriss team was somewhat decent for a young team, but ultimately a year or two away in an era where you don’t get that luxury.

Romar had four teams that were really exciting. 2003 to the end of the Roy era was great. Brockman’s senior year with IT, Dentmon, and Venoy (can’t deny he was fun to watch at his best) was an enjoyable year and IT’s jr year with him, MBA, Holiday, T-Ross and Wilcox. That team also blew a couple of inexplicable games, and should have been way higher than a 7 seed.

Pondexter’s senior year ended with an exciting sweet 16 run, but was a frustrating team for much of the year.

Romar had some good teams, but he was a bad coach. Hop sucking now is making some of you reminisce about the good times, but the good times should have been better.

There is no reason UW isn’t good at basketball. With a good coach, they could be a consistently good program.

Absolutely. Exciting is probably the better word. Romar wasn’t a good coach, but in comparison to what we got right now...

After winning back to back COTY in his first two years and then landing a local 5 star and another from across the country, you would think the program would be in good hands.

What a weird 5 years of husky basketball.

In the past 60 years, Washington has had only two coaches with winning records in conference, Harshman and Romar. That's it. I don't understand why people who love Husky basketball would feel a need to spit on Romar's contributions to our basketball program.
