It’s called If I Leave Here Tomorrow. For some reason I watched Lynyrd Skynrd at the Oakland Coliseum in 77 on YouTube last night. It was crazy how many girls were into it.

Anyone else seen it? What’s the consensus on Lynyrd Skynrd?

Their first two albums are terrific front to back. There’s a lot more to Skynyrd than Free Bird and Sweet Home Alabama. They invented the 3 lead guitar sound which was unique and kicked serious ass.
Yep, the band had an interesting dynamic. If you haven’t seen the documentary, I recommend it.

I was listening to Stone Cold Steve Austin and Joey Diaz on a podcast and they were talking about the LS show in Oakland in 77 so I YouTubed that, then read about Lynyrd Skynrd for about an hour, then watched the Showtime doc. I still don’t know why, but it was very interesting and fun.

They are probably in the top 10 of American rock bands.

I have them as my number 1 American rock band but I’ll wait for someone to offer up the competition to see who I’m forgetting.

GOAT American band is thorny as there is no clear winner. Beach Boys probably had the greatest impact on the evolution of the genre.

I'm bias, but I think the Grateful Dead is huge on here as they represent Americana. They played, Rock, Blues, Jazz, Bluegrass, Country, etc.

Nash was from England, so CSN was only 2/3 American.

Like @alumni94 , the Grateful Dead are my all time favorite American rock group. But I can't consider them the "greatest" because at the end of the day, they are still a cult band, albeit the most important cult band that ever was.
