I've like to theorize that he was a lure to bring in the bigger fish. Early playing time in garbage time, literally no targets, and virtually no game play later in the year with higher rated talent coming in can't lead to a lot of confidence. I do not have proof in hand.NEsnake12 said:

All have declined to offer him, rumors are that he has a $2m buyout or was jacking it on Zoom during the interview. Which is a weird thing to do, but especially so when it’s an in-person interview. I doubt Oregon goes after Kawasaki, or why he would even consider leaving. -
