I'm being glib with the social media stuff, but everything I've read from "insiders" (lol) is that he couldn't be bothered to put in the work and didn't take the job seriously. When you combine that with a goofy social media presence that showed almost nothing football-related in the offseason, and a physique that seemed to confirm a lack of work, the dots are there to connect.dnc said:
I think you're way overrating the social media stuff.GreenRiverGatorz said:
The guy was busy fucking off on social media while the other receivers in the room passed him by. He 100% played himself out of SF.Edwin_Bambino said:
Meh he was injured quite a bit and Jimmy G sucksGreenRiverGatorz said:
He fucked himself in SF. Put in nowhere near the work needed. Maybe being cut was the wakeup call he needed.Fear_Boner said:Dude can play. Got a bad shake in SF.

Pettis has always had the talent. You can't teach his natural ability.FireCohen said:
Not sure he responded well to tough love at SF, but dude can play at that levelGreenRiverGatorz said:

It was literally all over the internet when he wasn't used at all and then cut... from hobby boreds, to reddit, to mainstream shit...FireCohen said:

For example;
https://ninernoise.com/2020/06/01/49ers-dante-pettis-danger-cut-2020-nfl-draft/
"Many critics felt Pettis looked small going into Niners offseason training camp, citing his offseason work ethic as, for lack of a better word, “lazy.”"
https://www.ninersnation.com/2020/8/19/21374788/golden-nuggets-pettis-is-in-better-shape-and-its-showing
"San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch said last training camp wide receiver Dante Pettis came into training camp out of shape. That lead to a couple of injuries and some bad habits that Pettis couldn’t overcome. " -
Lots of talent ... he looked really soft though.
Hey, I'm just being honest. I root for the dude ... but he looked like an intramural guy called up to play for the 49ers.
Money, freedom and guaranteed contract and away from a controlled college system with peterman .... Equals dancing in a motel with pink hair and a soft body doing some fortnite moves. -
Unless they fixed the BS Dez Bryant rule - maybe they did and I didn't pay attention or care - that has been ruled to not be a catch in the past.animate said:

He didn't actually catch that. But still.dnc said: -

And it's the Calvin Johnson rule, not the Dez Bryant rule

In Sf he just dropped to many balls over the middle. I wanted him to succeed because I’m a niners fan and a uw fan but he just didn’t cut it. I hope he blows up in ny. Wish nothing but the best to him.
