Eels “Grace Kelly Blues” 2000
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLX4orF29nQ
For some reason, it took me years to put together two and two together that this was the same guy who did Novocaine for the Soul in the 90s. Which was always a song I liked in the 90s even though I was too cool to say I liked it. Also, the favorite artist of my buddy who’s always trying to get me to give up pumping gas to fulfill Prime orders.

Top Craig Finn Quips of the Century:
• My friends who aren’t dying are already dead.
• Dreams they seem cost money, but money costs some dreams
• When the Youth of Today and the early Seven Seconds taught me some of life’s most valuable lessons.

Frank Turner, Nights Become Days, 2011

Canadian radio is inherently cooler than American radio, And I believe the first time I heard this I was pumping gas in Vancouver.

As a #MyGiants fan from the freezing yore ass off in Candlestick days, I’m still lobbying the team to make this their anthem instead of Journey’s Lights. Fits ATT Park more.

Kings of Leon, The Bucket, 2004

Poring out some of my Pamplemousse La Croix for Indie 103.1 in LA. Where I first heard this song during a summer of having my car radio being stolen while living in a cheap apartment in Venice that probably now rents for 5-figures a month.
There really no need for more Kings of Leon, at this point.

Deltron 3030, 3030, 2000

I like the fact that Ice Cube’s cousin made the nerdiest, sci-fi-iest rap album of all tim. I like that.

Islands, Swans, 2007
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wq3-98XJCfw
Fun story tim: I saw this band play when I was pumping gas in Toronto in 2007. They offered me a free T-shirt if I wore a pair of boy shorts through the mosh pit. I still have the shirt.

The Aislers Set, Catherine Says, 2002

Definitely the oddest CD I ever burned for my metal dude friend, back when burning CDs was a thing.

Modest Mouse, The Good Tims Are Killing Me, 2004

This is the poaster that hangs behind me when I do Microsoft Teams calls for the gas station.
There shouldn’t be any more need for more Modest Mouse on a Seattle bored.

White Stripes, Let’s Build a Home, 2000
Bleach is still the coolest Nirvana album. De Stijl is still the coolest White Stripes album.

Blanche, What This Town Needs, 2007
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvtLDSOd2ho
Continuing down the White Stripes auxiliary path, the singer in this band put Jack White in his cowpunk band and played Johnny Cash's guitarist in Walk the Line. This is still one of my favorite Alt-country tracks of the decade regardless.
For more Blanche, try:
Red Haired Girl, 2004
