Welcome to the Hardcore Husky Forums. Folks who are well-known in Cyberland and not that dumb.

this years recruiting class is meh

But our best defense in at least 30 years was full of meh recruits that became monsters

Obviously everyone would prefer a bunch of blue chips, but good coaches can turn 3 stars in an NC caliber defense, and Kwat and Lake are still here.

However, this program needs to have a great run in 2021 or the momentum has officially flatlined.

Pac 12 title and beat Oregon or bust, quite honestly. The potential is there.

The disappointment with this class is more with the misses and lack of urgency than anything else.

It's the apparent lack of effort. Shit happens, I can forgive mistakes.

Not giving a fuck is unforgivable.

The whole theory that Jimmy Lake would elevate UW's recruiting took a huge hit, as well. It should have been as easy to pitch UW as ever, but for a variety of reasons it didn't work at all.

Wondering about this. In a short clause, I think you touched on the source of so much spiritual unrest among the UW fanbase.

What is it that made this year such an easy pitch? Right after putting up a good optic fight against Bama, I would have said, yes. But 3 consecutive bowl losses and then 8-5 doesn't seem like a easy peasy platform. There are worse, don't twist. But it takes a talented recruiter. The program isn't selling itself at this point. It still takes recruiting chops to stock a roster at a PNW school because there's not enough local talent in the region and you're never going to keep it all anyway. You have to go far out of state and bring them here.

It's doable, but you have to pull it off and it's work.

The commut list has a few guys that fall well below the standards UW has set iver the past few classes. It foes have good prospects included in it though. I actually love the DL and Helms. I like the receiver from Kennedy a lot. I really like one of the corners, can't remember his name but he's the tall one. I like Prentice and actually like the out of nowhere OL who's name also escapes me. And of course there's Huard.

There are a fair number of future starters in the class. In the long run it's not going to be a back breaker for the talent level at UW.

The problem is in the key failures including national top 10, local guys spurning UW. It's hard to get past that.

I'm liking Latu and ZTF playing together next year. The key is getting one more quality LB to take Sirmon's reps.

The good news is that good players get good all by themselves sometimes and make average coaches look good.

I think with maturation on offense at QB and WR UW has some great tools to finally put up some points.

The offense just needs to actually figure out what it really can do and who's best at doing it. A full camp and a couple OOC blowouts will help with that process.
