Watched it, a lot of it rang true. Problem in Seattle for a large portion of the population, it just really isn't on their door step. Yeah if you live in or near one of the business districts its a bigger deal, and yes, don't ever leave anything of value in your car, but really, it's something you see while picking up something in Ballard, then drive away from. Most neighborhood streets, especially in large parts of North Seattle, Magnolia, West Seattle, etc, you just are not seeing the presence on a daily basis. It's very easy to just run to a neighborhood store in Wedgwood and never encounter a homeless person. That would be a U District or Lake City problem, not a Wedgwood or View Ridge problem. It usually only becomes a serious problem when they have friends or family visit, and the visitors comment on how crazy the homelessness issue is in Seattle. Lastly, no one wants to be labelled anything but a progressive, and that means following the script. This holds true for issues like bike lanes/traffic, the environment, drug use (seen as something everyone does), and this is true with regards to the homeless. It's basically excessive social justice / bleeding heart liberal. The video basically points out that if you yell loud enough and long enough about an issue in Seattle, that even a majority don't even support, it will become political doctrine, and then the norm, despite many people gritting through something they don't enjoy.
There are however people that do enjoy it. These are usually people that have SF or NYC fetishes, and Seattle being grim and crime ridden helps them live their actual dreams of living someplace that is like that. These people still read the Stranger for some reason, and they all voted for Sawant.
