Joe Tryon is a cautionary tale on how shady agents can flash a little real money and ruin dreams

Keeps the agents away.

Who?? Does he play for UW?

Mock I saw tonight had Tryon as a mid 3rd rounder ... that feels about right

I’d have stronger feelings about this if the conference hadn’t given up on the kids in August.
-
I've seen him mocked in the top 15. But I also have a hard time seeing that materializing given how little college production he had. He'd need a kickass combine to go that soon.
But who knows where GMs are with this year. More than ever they're going to be drafting a lot more on potential vs. production, so I could easily see a team taking a flier on Tryon. -
He'll definitely do better than Eugene Burkhalter.

I felt bad for him. He would have played a huge part in that '90 team.TommySQC said:

Absolutely not. No body of work to justify a 1st Round pick. He'd have to run 4.5. I think Tryon is a Day 2 selection.GreenRiverGatorz said:I've seen him mocked in the top 15. ZTF performance this year doesn't help his case either. I don't think Joe like school that much and going 3rd or 4th round is fine. Expectations won't be that he's a starter right away and he can keep working on his skills.
The same people talking about a Day 1 selection were sure Hunter Bryant was a Day 1 selection.
-
His first commitment was to Wazzu, if I remember correctly.
Maybe that says it all. -
Hunter Bryant is a terrible comp. He was always a tweener, and he ended up not testing well either. That sunk his stock. Tryon could be the exact opposite from an underwear Olympics standpoint if he tests well (which is what's he's been prepping for full time since summer). He has all the measurables that make scouts drool and get guys like Dion Jordan taken at #3 overall.DawgDaze71 said:

Tryon needed mor tim on a college field to show that he was a good player, not just a freakish underwear olympics contestant. That was his shot at early rounds. I dont think he has one now.
He's still going to get a good shot and a mid round pick. That's not bad and it's really an amazing thing for him to pull off without having much of a body of work to show. -
Maybe I'm a doog, but based on this series of tweets, I think Tryon kind of regrets opting out as well. He seems very invested in the success of his teammates. Levi is the same way.
-
He's almost play-by-play twatted each game so far.Woof said:Maybe I'm a doog, but based on this series of tweets, I think Tryon kind of regrets opting out as well. He seems very invested in the success of his teammates. Levi is the same way.

I don't blame any of the players this year. Especially out west. They were probably convinced that there would be no season and signing with an agent early would build hype sooner ahead of the draft and get them access to bespoke draft preparation.
We complain about the coaches not recruiting well, with many contesting that it's just simple sales. Let's not forget that REAL professional salesmen, NFL agents, are selling the shit out of these guysm to come out for the draft. -
I don't blame Joe or Levi ...The Larry Scott Shit Show was in full effect.
Looking at last years NFL Draft Edge Guys from Power 5 schools generally went before the 4th round. Tryon's body of work is small but a lot of guys will only have really two seasons of being a starter on film so it's not a huge delta. He looks the part and if he runs well he's gonna like his paychecks next year.
Of course with ZTF performance this year it's like losing a HOT gf knowing her hot friend is interested in you.
I'd have regrets personally. Just about every NFL player says NFL teams have a brotherhood but it's not like HS or College Ball. -
If he came back he would almost certainly be improving his draft position with this defense, or maybe he could have got injured or put up a few more clips of him running around the field with his eyes closed...
Hard to say given the pac12 and Larry Scott FS.
I was consistently right about salmon Ahmed and Hunter Bryant’s overhyped nfl prospects from a select group of retards here.
I have also consistently said that nfl GMs and scouts are underwear Olympic simps
He should sell out on the speed aspect, cut a bit of weight, and market himself as a fast, long, and young raw edge guy that could carry more weight in a few years as he gets older.
If he does that he will get <4th round
If he tries to bulk, the same type of stuff Ahmed and Bryant did, and runs poorly he’s fucked and will struggle to go before the 7th
Some coach will take a flyer on him but he won’t get the time, attention, and patience he could have got if he came back and played his way into a early 2nd.
Betting a lot on testing well
-
Hunter’s issue was his medical not the on field stuff. Dude would have been too 5 TE taken, but his medical history was not goodHouhusky said:

You're absolutely right about Hunter's medical, but his shit 40 time really sunk him, same with Ahmed. Teams will almost always go with an average build and a great 40 over a guy who's jacked and runs a shit 40...Unless of course you're DK Metcalf and you can just do both.FireCohen said:

Its fucking stupid how these kids leave and some people hate on them but, when a player stays his full eligibility and is no longer on the team people start saying "who". These kids dont owe the fans or the university shit. The university came seeking them out not the other way around in most cases. If tryon does well that's good for the program, if he doesn't it'll just be another blip on the radar and the program will keep it moving.
-
I don't know, he kind of reminds me of Carlos Dunlap and Danielle Hunter.
He'll probably run a 4.65 to 4.7 and unless Tryon has a poor vertical or cone / agility drill, I don't see him making it out of the 3rd round. A young team with a good amount early picks (NY Jets, Miami Dolphins) or teams in sore need of a boost in pass-rush (Jacksonville, Las Vegas) shouldn't be able to resist.
-
I didn’t know that. Poor kid. Missed out on one of the formative experiences of his life.GrundleStiltzkin said:
