As for the game, I'd call it a UW lean based on what I've seen so far. Arizona looks bad, but then again, good teams ass rape bad teams. Right now, UW looks like the better team, which shouldn't shock too many people. Both teams lost some players, but based on memory alone Oregon lost more, including an entire position group. I

Oregon's D is not the same. I said losing Graham, who had really turned himself into a shut down corner and great tackler after being so bad as an underclassman, hurt. Losing Sewell at ILB will hurt. Still, there is a lot of talent on the roster, and so it depends on what they gain in the next two games and how they come out against UW.

Haven't seen enough of UW to be convinced they are a world beater yet. I've always said no fan gets more cocky in a shorter period of time based on less than a Husky. Christ when 70-21 happened it was like the prior 12 years, or whatever, had never occurred. Rightful place and USC respect and all that good stuff. Miami fans used to be a close second, but they've been fed a steady dose of reality now for the last many years. So there's that.

That all said, the idea that this is an "I told you so with Lake" is just amazing to me given recent history, even for doogs like BigErn. I assume when you? guys said let it play out, you didn't mean 2 games into this abortion of a season.

    Jimmy is not elite. Lolz.

    @backthepack

Odds are @creepycoug he is not elite. Iron laws are iron laws. But if he wins the Pac in a shitty abortion of a season he might might be at least Mario good.
Mario had more to do than Jimmy. And Cristo is recruiting at a level never before seen at Oregon. Not even close.

Jimmy inherited an intact program benefiting from years of very good recruiting.

    Different situations.

    Jimmy is LIPO. That’s all.
Here's what I want to know about Oregon/Cristobal:

Is Phil Knight paying off the networks to promote them? They're conference champs until they're not, I get that, so I'm fine with the preseason rankings, etc., but I've never seen a season where I turn on so many games and see commentators randomly bringing up a team not involved in the game and talking about how great they are. Each time, the timing and delivery seemed unnatural and weird.

"So Dan, how about that fourth quarter performance by Colorado in the third quarter?"

"Well Tom, I thought so'n'so is really getting his reads down and bringing a new dimension to that offense. Take this 2nd and 3 play here for instance. Watch how he reads that end--which reminds me: isn't Oregon just better than both these teams? I mean, aren't they just awesome? The uniforms, the energy Cristobal's bringing to that program. Definitely the class of the PAC-12. Now to focus-grouped attractive female sideline reporter for more on the state of Oregon's offensive line..."

It's not that what they're saying is entirely wrong, it's that I've watched parts of four or five conference games now, and every single one had one of these moments that seemed awkward and forced. Like either Oregon is buying the narrative or there's just something naturally in it for either the broadcasters or conference or college football in general. If it's intentional, I think Cristobal's greatest accomplishment to date at Oregon is rebuilding their brand to the point it's like it hasn't skipped a beat since Mariota/Chipster. Clearly SOMEBODY powerful is interested in nationally promoting the narrative that Oregon is clearly better than anybody in the conference. Which, again, may have made sense at some point, but it's awkward to keep seeing it after struggles against WSU and UCLA. It's awkward at this point for such a strong opinion about ANY team in this fucked up conference.
tldr doog doesn't understand marketing. It would be stupid for networks to not promote the dumb blonde in the conference. WTF else are they going to try to sell, Chris Peterman? David Shaw? Clay Helton?

Slingblade and meathead won Rose Bowels. This doesn't require explication.

    Hur dur hur NIKE.

Players and Coaches are patiently waiting for that game. Have no doubt Washington will be ready for that game.

I was told this last year and am stupid enough to believe it again
Compare how they played against Oregon last year to Stanford. They were ready for that game and honestly thought that was there best game played. A dumb play call by Bush on third and three is what killed it along with a missed PI at the end of the game.
Eason threw the ball well in the first half. The pass to Bryant was indefensible and one of the more memorable plays from last year.

Mario got Herbert - who has shown in the NFL to be quite good, so while I mostly agree I’m not completely buying that narrative
One player with nobody to throw to. The situations were very different. It’s not a narrative. Post Chip, you had lazy recruiter who ran the program into the ground followed by what can only be described as a bizarre year with Willie. It was the very definition of a train wreck. Mario immediately made them better, and started bringing in talent into what was an unrecruitable situation. Also managed a touchy situation with Levitt like a boss.

Doogs have been pressing and pulling back muscles trying to rationalize their bad takes ever since.

I’m basically just right as rain on this. Entirely.

This kind of conspiracy theory belongs in the Tug. I don’t think there’s a love affair with Oregon. I could be wrong; but it’s exceedingly rare that I am.

The offense is more efficient this year without Herbert. I shutter to think what Moorehead would do with Herbert, last year's oline and Breeland.

These past two games are glossing over the fact that Lake hired John Donavon. He was a terrible hire. The past two games are fool's gold and not sure that Utah will expose that.
You may really be calling out UW a little early. They have looked good while breaking in a new QB. It’s early for everyone.

Donovan is only bad hire when it’s clear he’s a bad hire. Not clear yet.

Chris Petersen got a lot of FREE PUB back in the day...of course it was always because of the stuff he did at Boise, which annoyed me.

I agree with @1to392831weretaken about the unnatural way Oregon is brought up, but I don’t think it’s because of some weird Nike conspiracy...it’s just because the commentators they have doing PAC 12 games usually suck.
He asked a good question. What other PAC 12 turd would you prefer they polish? They’re the defending champs. They suck off USC the very second they appear even remotely competent, but as is the way of Husky culture, not a word.

I am basically throwing this year out. There's going to be regression back to mean when we get a normal season. Everybody looks good on offense right now.

I am going to trust the analytics and expect John Donovan to fall back to the mean until he doesn't. He just went against the two worst defenses in the league and he's not going to face a good defense this year.

Lolz.

    @backthepack

Oregon won 3 Rose Bowls in 10 years with 3 different coaches. UW lost a playoff game. Pete Carrol left USC 11? years ago. Billboards, Nike, Uniforms, winning most of the time in a shit conference. Oregon has won 14 of 15 conference games. Meathead from the ESS EEE SEE. Heisman Trophy. Dip Belly. You don't have to like it, but to say it's unnatural makes no sense. Oregon had coaches who went for 2 in the 1st quarter. Stanford has a coach who kicks for the tie on 2nd down with a minute left.

You're the son of an old railroad tycoon with an endowment who thinks he deserves it all and we? mined a bunch of bit coins between sleeping and playing WOW. Shocking that tik tok eyeballs care about one and not the other. I don't like it either. Pretending it's not what makes the world go round is head in the sand.

Jimmy has the boys playing hard. He’s a sure thing. Only thing to play out is a Rose Bowl before an off-season natty. We’re dooging.
Maybe they send Indiana too? You can claim victory over the Indiana schools in the Rose Bowl.

We can argue about which is better - 2nd place Wisconsin teams or the Indiana schools.

Mario got Herbert - who has shown in the NFL to be quite good, so while I mostly agree I’m not completely buying that narrative

Shough has the most turnover worthy plays of any QB in the conference but doesn’t have a lot of turnovers, it’ll regress back to the mean and he’ll lose you a game.

These past two games are glossing over the fact that Lake hired John Donavon. He was a terrible hire. The past two games are fool's gold and not sure that Utah will expose that.
Shough has the most turnover worthy plays of any QB in the conference but doesn’t have a lot of turnovers, it’ll regress back to the mean and he’ll lose you a game.
Stats? PFF I assume? Couldn't just be BTP bullshit.

If Shough throws a couple INTs and they lose, it will still be because of the defense.
