Jake Browning - Undersized Kellen Moore wannabe. Works at any P5 school as long as it's Ohio State, Clemson, Oklahoma, Bama where the talent around him is so dominant all you need is a game manager.
Jake Haener - Transferred out to Fresno State where he was named starter. JV version of Browning
Tony Gonzales - Juco transfer
Colson Yankoff - Transferred to UCLA. Switched to wide receiver
Jacob Eason - Big arm, transferred home from Georgia. Locked onto receivers, had issues processing play fast enough, big statue in pocket. Lackk of mobility Does not work in today's college game unless again you have insane talent everywhere else on offense.
Dylan Morris: See Browning/Haener
Ethan Garbers: See Browning/Haener/Morris
Jacob Sirmon: Tried to transfer, pulled him back in. Big arm like Eason, but also questions about mobility in pocket and ability to see game fast enough. Reading tea leaves he is in big battle with grad transfer from Sac State which at a minimum is a red flag, and if is beat out for starting job will be in transfer portal day after season ends if not before.
Kevin Thompson: Grad Transfer from Sac State. PHD version of Browning as better mobility. Hard to believe when he was brought in, coaches truly believed he would compete for starting job. Fact he is, says more about Sirmon and to lesser extent Morris than anything else.
I didn't include Huard as he is still in High School.
That's alot of blanks at the most important position in football.

Jake Haener >> Jake Browning

Also consider we locked into Browning over:
Rypien - in the NFL
Herbert - not sure this is real I that he always wanted Oregon -

im impressed with Garbers, that kid is a football player and reminds me of some of our better qb’s in history
Sirmon might turn out to be a pleasant surprise, yet to be determined but you kinda feel like in year 3 if he had what we were hoping for that we would probably already know it -
Garbers isn't a Brownsox comp. He plays bigger, has a better arm, and is way more athletic and physical. He's a football player who can throw. I'd feel a lot better about the QB situation if I was hearing anything at all about him pushing his way into the race. The other three do nothing for my confidence at all.

I don't think he has a chance this year because of the circumstances.chuck said:Garbers isn't a Brownsox comp. He plays bigger, has a better arm, and is way more athletic and physical. Sirmon is just not the guy. Derek called that years ago and it appears to be true.
Morris I've always thought of as a Pete-style quarterback which is probably not fair to him. He's had some years in the program now though so if he can't overcome Thompson's experience that's on him.
UW and Oregon are just going to run the ball until one of these less talented schools can stop it. We might not know much about either teams qb until they play each other in Eugene. -
So every qb is either a Browning or a statue? Brilliant analysis
