My in-laws just got evacuated from their home outside of Ashland, OR, and the town of Mill City OR is basically ashes now.

The two fires around Brewster, WA are larger than the massive Carlton Complex from some years back. -
The forest management aspect has changed (via Good Neighbor Authority) however the timber harvest planning is still in its infancy. Not sure if any have gone to auction yet. WA DNR and USFS have a few dozen in the planning stage right now, including some of the areas currently burning.RaceBannon said:Washington too

The winds were FIERCE east of the Cascades yesterday. Hit 91 mph in some spots -and it wasn't just the force of the wind, it was a really undulating air flow, coming in waves. Most of the wind coming from the east which is relatively unusual.
Sat on my cabin's deck and watched a bunch of trees snap -like gunshots going off. Got the fuck out of there after the power went off and was afraid I'd get stuck with no way out and have to eat my neighbors like the Donner Party.

Power was out here for 24 hours and out all over the CDA area up to Sandpoint and south past Worley.

In-laws home burned down outside of Ashland and both got out safe at age 77. They got the documents they needed. Wife is meeting them at our cabin at Lake of the Woods.
Seems like a Tool night.
