You go back to 1890, my descendants were either in France, Ireland, Norway or were Native American.thechatch said:I’m a descendent of a Union General. Does that exempt me from all of this?
What about descendants of early 1900s immigrants from Ireland, Italy, and Germany? Are they exempt from paying out on something that happened 50 years before their great great grandfather crawled off of a boat with a only three clothes on his back?
Help me flesh this out. Am I now entitled to demand reparations for the indentured servitude my far ancestors toiled under in Scotland? Who do I invoice for that?
This is all fucking nonsense and detracts from the current issues that need to be addressed. Unfortunately, right now, those issues seem to be pancake syrup, rice, and Historically significant monuments. -
I’d love it if our political system and media allowed for the kind of Social contracting necessary to address issues in every underserved communities, but that just ain’t how shit works in 2020. Everyone is looking for symbolic wins to post on twitter while the string pullers figure out who’s pocket to dip their hands in.
But sure. Let’s tear down a bunch Of statues, slap some slogans on the backs of millionaire athletes who are less affected by all of this than almost everyone else out there, and rebrand a few grocery store items and call it a day.
Imagine how stupid you have to be to take a country so divided by race(thanks, talking heads!) and introduce a system where one race pays another race money, under some arbitrary standards, dreamed up by a career bureaucrat, who’s entire political career is built on those two groups of people blaming each other for shit that mostly isn’t the other party’s fault. -
so that is where the term "four" fathers originatedDerekJohnson said:

If they want reparations for what happened to black people after slavery let them go after the Democrat Party. Jim Crow wasn't a policy of the Federal Government it was a policy of the Democrat Party. There's no reason why a northern Republican should be paying black people for crimes and atrocities committed by Southern Rats and Southern Rat run state and local governments.thechatch said:I’m a descendent of a Union General. Those historically significant monuments were put up 35-60 years after the civil war in an attempt to appease the southern democrats (who were in charge) and to unite the nation. damn - go another 100 years and now those monuments are dividing the nation. -

You took down some statues and posted selfies on the Gram.
Look at how much you’ve helped, my idiotic “woke” countrymen.
