I read it and agree with Taibbi on the overwhelming majority of issues, and I think any liberal who wants to give social media companies more power to censor speech they don't like (unless it's something outrageous like directly targeting people) is ultimately making a deal with the devil.GrundleStiltzkin said:You should read that piece @dhdawg . I suspect you're on the same team with the writer on most things, excepting perhaps civil rights.
Drastic actions were necessary, and in March people were just looking for leaders who they felt they could trust to make the right decisions. A lot of latitude was given to everyone (including Trump at the beginning) which is why the lockdowns and the governors who imposed strict lockdowns, were widely popular. -
I’m a GenX but I identify as Boomer. Please respect my feelings.BennyBeaver said:

Half the voters under 35 have never written a check. You expect them to mark a ballot and find a UPS mailbox?!?!GrundleStiltzkin said:
Pay someone? Venmo.
Buy a house? Zillow.
Deposit a check? Direct deposit or bank app.
Turn off your lights? Alexa.
Get groceries? Amazon.
Eat? Grubhub, etc.
We've the boomers who want to go to a polling place, the Gen Xers who want to vote by mail, and the punks who want to vote via app or internet. It's hard. -
Like anything, if it’s important to you, you’ll find a way.

Did we read the same article? It was a Tabaiaiaiaibibibibbiibib twat but the article was by someone else, and it discussed much more than social media.incremetal_progress said:

Your arguments are essentially the same in favor of the Patriot Act. -

Also sounds like Trump doesn't want a delay
I suppose you do now -
Why do White people keep telling me Black people are too stupid to figure out how to vote?
Is there a peer reviewed double blind study I’m unaware of? -
Nope, I don't want a crooked election either. We should spend more money on election security then. Agree?RaceBannon said: -

No one wants to delay the election but the GRIM reality might be that we have to.
I’m hearing it’s only going to be two weeks anyway.
god you are a dumbfuck -
Sure, we agree. Proof of citizenship to register. Mandatory cross check of state election data bases to eliminate double/triple voter registration, voter ID, county death certificates sent to the state secretary of state office and no vote by mail and no electronic voting. I'm all in. This is like salt to a slug to you leftards.

MIL got a mandatory notice to appear for failure to respond to jury duty in King County a few months back.
She never lived in King County. Ever.
I don’t live in King either. She has never lived at my current residence. She’s lived out of the country for 10 years+ and doesn’t vote.
I threw it in the trash. She doesn’t need baseless worry at 85.
My mom died late last year. She has voted twice since. -
I'm not interested in a revolution. I am the opposite of wanting this to be trueincremetal_progress said:

I also have a brain. You can't lockdown states, kill 40 million jobs, hector the populace on zoom from your Hollywood hills mansion and not expect a backlash
Its science -
I think They are surprised at how easy it's been.RaceBannon said:

How are you going to implement safe mail-in elections on a national scale in three months? Wear a mask, go vote, or apply for absentee, and fuck off. I’m in Portland so I know the corruption of all mail-in elections.insinceredawg said:

I live in a metro county now and got a Washington County jury notice. Haven’t live there in over 15 years. Had to go to fucking Hillsboro to clear my failure to appear. Was shipped to a long ago address in Beaverton.doogie said:MIL got a mandatory notice to appear for failure to respond to jury duty in King County a few months back.

First, right.GrundleStiltzkin said:
They should make the election earlier, imo, so there's at least a few living voters to elect Biden's corpse as the last US president. History made.Houhusky said:Ive spent the past 6 months hearing that the constitution and rights are only applicable when people’s lives are NOT in danger.

Hes not wrong if you read his complete statements -
Mail in vs absentee mail in they send it to everyone regardless if you have voted in the last 10 elections, are dead or moved... absentee needs to be requested, so at least some effort is required and less ripe for fraud.
