Per Roof, he's 6'5 270 rather than the 6'2.5 255 reported on his 247 profile that was made...today

This kinda feels like the Chip Kelly-I-hate-recruiting-so-we-will-take-any-player-as-long-as-I-dont-have-to-do-fucking-anything approach. Definitely got me intrigued.
And how would the optics look if Jimmy pulled the offer to this local kid? Gee Scott would go crazy. -
Besides BNB suggesting that people misread what he posted, this just isn’t the modus operandi of Jimmy Lake.insinceredawg said:Not sure where he saw this but Dawg101 on BDTW posted that sonics says Lake offered this kid out of frustration/panic because Schuster got cold feed about committing today. If this is true it's a HUGE red flag about Lake. The lack of discipline and desperation of this move does not bode well to how he'll perform as an in game coach.
During his time at UW Lake went down to the wire with multiple recruits who were wavering back and forth. Byron, Julius, Asa.... when guys wavered or got cold feet, he didn’t just move on to another kid. He landed his prospects.
It’s also not the case with Malloe. He stayed on Tuli, Taki, Bandes, and Tui until they were in the boat.
I don’t have a fucking clue what is happening this recruiting season, but I can’t with good faith say that Lake or Malloe would just jump ship on JTT or Schuster because they aren’t sure if they will commit to UW or not over the next 6-8 months. -
Don’t get me wrong...this is weird...but if we are taking him as a project OG at 6’4” 270 I’m ok with that. OL out west blows and we struck out with the best out-of-state ones, so if we are getting him and Prentice and calling it good that isn’t horrible.
If we are taking him over Schuster in June that seems nuts. -
The kid has a damn good tape. I can see him @ SAM, OG, TE. Maybe I'm becoming a Doog but add another explosive athlete to the commit list. JV and shit league players, but still.
-
This is the only reasonable logic to take this kid in June. If we're recruiting this kid as a TE or DL then that means we're throwing in the towel on our bigger targets.HoustonHusky said:Don’t get me wrong...this is weird...but if we are taking him as a project OG at 6’4” 270 I’m ok with that. Jimmy did a great job scooping this kid up before Eastern Washington or Portland State offered him a preferred walk-on spot.Baseman said:The kid has a damn good tape. I can see him @ SAM, OG, TE. I like it. Strong lineage of success from Renton High.

Sounds like they think he'll be up near 300 by the time he's at UW. Could very easily be moved to O lineBaseman said:The kid has a damn good tape. I can see him @ SAM, OG, TE. Maybe I'm becoming a Doog but add another explosive athlete to the commit list. JV and shit league players, but still.

Roof says Malloe, PK, and Huff were all involved in his recruitment. Also plays TE for his team.

Three of our last 5 commits you could have offered them 6:59 am the morning of either signing day, and they fax their commitment to UW 2 minutes later.bananasnblondes said:Again, if recruiting is going this terribly, I'd rather Jimmy just shut it down and sit on his hands until the season starts and see if you can catch fire and get some momentum going again. You can get guys like this by offering them the day before signing day even if they are already committed to Central or PLU or whatever.
It reeks of lazy coaching, a quitters mentality, or both.
We are doing this in what has become the meat of the recruiting season since it's now become having your classes wrapped up by the start of September.
I am at a loss for words on what Lake and Company are doing right now. We are recruiting like the last 4 years were the TY Willingham regime and record instead of 3 NY6 bowls and 2 Pac-12 Championships.
I know Pete's not there, but this is something else.

More recruiting classes like this one it won't matter how he is as a in game coach.DugtheDoog said:

Doogman guys are essentially guaranteeing a new commit today. Hopefully we can hold off Simon Fraser and George Fox college.
-
Supposedly we are getting another commit today and the only comment I've seen from someone who claims to know who it is is "Dont know how excited everyone else will be but I'm excited"
-
It's threads like this that make me wish this whole board were Members Only. The frustration and confusion stemming from this commitment are understandable, so analysis and venting are appropriate, but sure would be shitty to be this kid checking in on his commit thread.
Mostly, though, I just want to be able to leave my jacket in Jimmy Lakes office in order to gain super insider access. -
Doesn't sound too encouraging. Probably one of the 3* DBs.bananasnblondes said:Supposedly we are getting another commit today and the only comment I've seen from someone who claims to know who it is is "Dont know how excited everyone else will be but I'm excited"

Per Eklund the kid is not committing today because his commitment video isnt done yet.
Hope he doesnt wait too long though. There's a fullback/long snapper from Forks High School that the coaches have been looking at and an offer could come at any time -

Crossing my fingers it's another Chris Sailer-approved punter. You know Bob likes his depth at the kicking positions. No need to offer a PWO spot right now. Choate is pressing for a commitment, arguing he's got better ST credentials and Bozeman elevation augments kicking distance. Gonna be close. Rolo could get involved, too. Heard from sources that Rolo bought the kid's dad a beer during his Seattle bar crawl with all the West Side Cuogs.bananasnblondes said:Per Eklund the kid is not committing today because his commitment video isnt done yet.

He must have been caught off guard by the offer not to have the video ready. Sounds like Jimmy went and got himself another top shelf guy.bananasnblondes said:Per Eklund the kid is not committing today because his commitment video isnt done yet.

Keep the no offer thread commits coming Jimmy!!! The JL reign has the makings of a short (bus) ride.
Fingered crossed this ends of being the worst aging post of all times. -

"But the player Scott is talking about is apparently milking his 15 minutes (and why not?!), so not expecting anything from him today."
Weird -
So a player that no one knows who it is, and that no one is talking about, is silently milking his 15 min (12 hours) of fame. That makes no fucking sense.
-
If this turns out to be a low tier 3 star recruit with aspirations of being a late career role player, I'm going to be giddy.bananasnblondes said:
