Not only “why accept his commitment now” but why the fuck are we offering players like this in June period?!
Fuck this shit staff...low t beta bitches
Agree with “why accept the commitment now”.
But the evaluation cycle for this year is fucked. For all we know, this kid could’ve gotten offers if he was able to compete in the spring camp circuit
This is the only explanation I can come up with. There's a good chance there won't be a HS season this fall so coaches now have to make educated guesses on which under the radar type kids would have blown up this year. Once they identified this kid, they decided he's a take no matter what and offered him now to avoid the possible scenario of someone else swooping him.
JFC I can't believe I convinced myself to believe that Doog bullshit. Fuck Jimmy and fuck this coaching staff.
This kinda feels like the Chip Kelly-I-hate-recruiting-so-we-will-take-any-player-as-long-as-I-dont-have-to-do-fucking-anything approach. Definitely got me intrigued.
And how would the optics look if Jimmy pulled the offer to this local kid? Gee Scott would go crazy.
Not sure where he saw this but Dawg101 on BDTW posted that sonics says Lake offered this kid out of frustration/panic because Schuster got cold feed about committing today. If this is true it's a HUGE red flag about Lake. The lack of discipline and desperation of this move does not bode well to how he'll perform as an in game coach.
Besides BNB suggesting that people misread what he posted, this just isn’t the modus operandi of Jimmy Lake.
During his time at UW Lake went down to the wire with multiple recruits who were wavering back and forth. Byron, Julius, Asa.... when guys wavered or got cold feet, he didn’t just move on to another kid. He landed his prospects.
It’s also not the case with Malloe. He stayed on Tuli, Taki, Bandes, and Tui until they were in the boat.
I don’t have a fucking clue what is happening this recruiting season, but I can’t with good faith say that Lake or Malloe would just jump ship on JTT or Schuster because they aren’t sure if they will commit to UW or not over the next 6-8 months.
Don’t get me wrong...this is weird...but if we are taking him as a project OG at 6’4” 270 I’m ok with that. OL out west blows and we struck out with the best out-of-state ones, so if we are getting him and Prentice and calling it good that isn’t horrible.
If we are taking him over Schuster in June that seems nuts.
The kid has a damn good tape. I can see him @ SAM, OG, TE. Maybe I'm becoming a Doog but add another explosive athlete to the commit list. JV and shit league players, but still.

This is the only reasonable logic to take this kid in June. If we're recruiting this kid as a TE or DL then that means we're throwing in the towel on our bigger targets.

Jimmy did a great job scooping this kid up before Eastern Washington or Portland State offered him a preferred walk-on spot.
I like it. Strong lineage of success from Renton High.

Sounds like they think he'll be up near 300 by the time he's at UW. Could very easily be moved to O line
