Buffalo Trace is bordering on being the Budweiser of bourbon. Jim Beam obviously is in that spot but BT is Miller.

For solid mid-tier, decent priced Bourbon go with Woodford Reserve instead.

Then sit back with your three fingers of WR (neat) and watch some vintage Ashley Judd sex scenes on pornhub for the full Kentucky experience.

Reuben's Three Ryes Men. Barrel aged barleywine. Bronze medal winner at the 2019 GABF. It was outstanding.

Eagle Rare is much better than Woodford IMHO. Another Sazerac brand that was my fav but I can’t find anymore was Elmer T Lee.

I had a Gibson martini last night pod. Stirred and not shaken. Two cocktail onions.

@PurpleThrobber Buffalo Trace is more like the Coors Original of Bourbon. Way better than Bud Heavy or Miller. I like Woodford but have long felt it to be overrated in it's price point. It's the Glenlivet of Bourbon.

Woodford is nice but definitely kind of blah to me

The Buffalo Trace comments are interesting ... first, it’s not the easiest to find. Second, go back a few years ago and nobody even knew what Buffalo Trace was. Feel like the hate is because it went from nothing to too popular.

I’d definitely lean towards more of a Knob Creek than Woodford. If you’re going for something a little off the beaten path try some E.H. Taylor.

Last night Buffalo Trace was my runner up. Like many things I don't think it is wholly eclipsed by Woodford Reserve, but in many ways I like Woodford Reserve better.

If you've been to both distilleries (the Throbber has), it's like going to a E&J Gallo production facility in Modesto vs. a Napa winery/tasting room. Not even the same scope.

Buffalo Trace is a massive facility in Frankfurt (perhaps the shittiest state capital in the country - just awful). Woodford Reserve is much more like low-key and nestled among horse farms and rolling hills of Kentucky blue grass.

Things I learned today: The capital of Kentucky is some place called "Frankfort."

Sometimes I think this place is just too academic elitist for me.

Their base line product is good mixing whiskey although a little weak at 80 proof. The single barrel offerings are pretty solid.
