I think he’s finding out how bad his staff is at recruiting right now. We got three coaches who can go toe to toe with almost anyone in recruiting in Huff, Junior and Malloe, one who is above average in coach K and six coaches who can’t get it done. Junior is the only reason we are still in it for Troy. Main problem with Troy was hiring Donovan because they just been bashing the shit out of him and it’s been working. Showed him the stats when he was there at Penn State and then the years after when Moorehead (there new OC) took over. Set up perfectly for them.UDubHusky23 said:
@sonics1993 would you say that Jimmy Lake is aware of his staffs deficiencies on the recruiting trail? does he have a good feel for recruiting?sonics1993 said:
All her recruiting info comes from the coaches which is great when they have a good feel for recruiting but when they are overly bullish and not understanding where they actually stand it leads to a lot of wrong predictions which she has been making since Jimmy took over. I talked to Will a few times and he would tell me how he thinks they have a good shot at there top targets when all my third party sources where saying that’s not true. That’s why I was negative before all this went down because I could see it coming. And she is wrong about Troy right now, he’s all Oregon and if he decides early (decent shot at that) it’s going to be Oregon. Washington’s only hope is this drags out so they can get him on campus again but Washington has been out recruited so far for Troy.KevinPAC12 said:Honest question:
What do you Dawgs think of Kimmy and her recruiting information?
Because she said Franklin and Mak were locks!
Is it Junior getting blown out for troy? or is it a collective effort? -
@sonics1993 appreciate your input. Do you think Sam Huard is a positive on the trail? don't really see the huard effect yet. What % do you give uw in changing the tide with troy? I like the trifecta off junior, huard and jalen mcmillan.sonics1993 said:

One word......Cristobal.tvoie said:And now Franklin is headed to Oregon too? What in the actual shit is going on?
Basically been a non-stop sodomy session since he took over. Peterman ran for the hills, I don't see it ending much better for Jimmy.

Sam has been in consistent contact with Troy but his impact is felt more in person which is the problem. Sadly I got no good news, Washington is getting murdered on the recruiting trail right now and I don’t expect it to change during the summer. Only shot they got is official visits being allowed in the fall, them getting off to a good start and pressuring some of those commits to take visits but they dug themselves a very deep hole.UDubHusky23 said:

I expect to see a good amount of commits visit other schools and I expect to see more decommits this year. But banking on that strategy only works if you have a good year. I rather try to hold one of my commits rather than flipping a commit from anthor school.UDubHusky23 said:

If the coaches can't patch up Donovan's past with Penn St. they aren't power 5 recruiters. You need some super reputable OC to get it done with offensive players you just have zero creativity at sales.

Let’s state this....
I hate you, you hate me. We both think our teams are superior.
I want your honest opinion.
Kimmy says the following after our last 12 out of 15 commits:
The day or day after a UofO commit:
-Huskies/We have moved on
-Oregon must of paid the family
-Not OKG
-We have higher rated targets
AND NOW....
She says something to the effect that Lake & Co. are letting Oregon get commits because you are going to flip them later! And that the past 24mo’s of recruiting < UW all the way!
Do you truly believe this? -

No, Oregon has been kicking Washington’s ass head to head ever since Pete stepped down. When Pete was here, I never feared Oregon because Pete would handle you guys just fine. Jimmy hasn’t proven to and the coaches he hired can’t compete with Mario’s hire.KevinPAC12 said:Let’s state this....

Did he hire Donovan out of desperation? Four months later and I'm still scratching my head about this hire. Lake sabotaged this year's class on offense by hiring Donovan even with Sam in the boat.sonics1993 said:haie said:If the coaches can't patch up Donovan's past with Penn St. they aren't power 5 recruiters. You hire coordinators to coach and call plays, not recruit. I won’t judge him until the year is over and I see how the offense performs.UDubHusky23 said:

Oregon seems to be using him as a negative recruiting point just fine. You said yourself he isn't a strong recruiter so he doesn't bring much to the table. He better be lights out as an offensive play-callersonics1993 said:

Because I would have the hardest time stating that if the roles were reversed and let be honest.... most Duck/Husky fans would admit that!
We both hate each other but the level of stupidity has to be called out. Your Kimmy is a Nut job - truly!
I will say this about our current teams:
Your LBs blow and OC hire = wow
The Ducks OL and QB haven’t done anything yet - all Duck fans shhhhh!
Ducks and Husky’s have the #1 & #2 Defenses in the conference.
To recruiting...
I want to blast you while you’re down. Most Duck fans would... I will say this, you are struggling but my only grief with that is the “why’s” behind it...
“We are waiting on the decommit’s”
“Our class will be bette then Oregon’s”
“All Oregon has is highly over ranked recruits! We passed on all of them!”
Kimmy is a joke!
The Duck fan base has it’s “Kimmy’s” too but it refreshing to have some dialog on what is crazy behind enemy lines. -

Told a lot of power running with play action built off of it. With a new OL and QB expect them to lean on the run and the size the have built up front. The hope is that they will be successful in the run game forcing eight man boxes which will allow one on one matchups for the WR’s when they do play action which is where they are hoping to hit deep passes. If you look at the WR’s we have with Chin, Bynum, Puka, Jalen, Rome and Ty, they are guys that should be able to get open deep so Jimmy believes the scheme John is bringing in fits with the players they have on the roster which in theory I would agree with.insinceredawg said:

It’s working because of Covid and no visits allowed so these recruits can’t watch practice and see the offense for themselves. Nobody could have predicted that. -
Still pissed you guys got Puka!! He is a stud. Period.

Classier than I would act on a enemy board. I wouldn't go out of my way to gloat if oregon was down but I would throw in a couple jabs. Enjoy having a cohesive and winning above all type mentality in your athletic department.KevinPAC12 said:

All we got are questions marks and confusion. -
They're still kids, and it's still sales. There isn't any tape of this offense so there's a lot of room to spin. It seems like there just isn't enough pressure on some of these position coaches to get it done unless everything is going our way.sonics1993 said:haie said:If the coaches can't patch up Donovan's past with Penn St. they aren't power 5 recruiters. You need some super reputable OC to get it done with offensive players you just have zero creativity at sales.
The man was an absolute train wreck at Penn State, was an assistant running back for the last four year and is a terrible recruiter. Hard to patch that up. -
Don’t disagree with you there but Washington’s recruiting strategy isn’t about salesmanship, it’s about all that Washington has to offer. But problem is they can’t visit so the coaches can’t show them. That’s been the main issue.haie said:

Love your takes sonics but I think thats a little bit of a cop out answer to blame it entirely on covid. Jimmy couldn't see hiring J Donovan could cause issues down the road? Especially with Joe Moorehead to oregon rumors that were going on. Jimmy couldn't have seen bob gregory, derham cato and keith bonnerpopper as weak recruiters? He had first hand experience working with BOTH terrence brown and will harris? Jimmy has been working with the majority of these guys for years.sonics1993 said:UDubHusky23 said:
Oregon seems to be using him as a negative recruiting point just fine. You said yourself he isn't a strong recruiter so he doesn't bring much to the table. He better be lights out as an offensive play-callersonics1993 said:
You hire coordinators to coach and call plays, not recruit. I won’t judge him until the year is over and I see how the offense performs.UDubHusky23 said:
SMH. I know Jimmy was expecting Kellen moore but this hire is unacceptable.sonics1993 said:haie said:If the coaches can't patch up Donovan's past with Penn St. they aren't power 5 recruiters. Thought Jimmy would be different when he talked about being competitive and always attacking. Such bullshit.
It’s working because of Covid and no visits allowed so these recruits can’t watch practice and see the offense for themselves. Nobody could have predicted that.
ADAPT OR DIE! But he made the decision to hire and keep these guys. -
Yes he is, coaches can’t stop raving about him. I expect him to be the number one WR this year for Washington.KevinPAC12 said:Still pissed you guys got Puka!! He is a stud. Period.

I was thrilled when you didn’t hire Kellen!!!UDubHusky23 said:

Donovan on paper looks eehhhhh
But I also said that about a guy in the late 2000s from New Hampshire that ran some zone read thing. -
I tell it like it is and right now on the recruiting trail and on the field Oregon is top dog. Think it will be like that for the next couple of years but hope I’m wrong.KevinPAC12 said:
Now this is real...sonics1993 said:
No, Oregon has been kicking Washington’s ass head to head ever since Pete stepped down. When Pete was here, I never feared Oregon because Pete would handle you guys just fine. Jimmy hasn’t proven to and the coaches he hired can’t compete with Mario’s hire.KevinPAC12 said:Let’s state this....
Because I would have the hardest time stating that if the roles were reversed and let be honest.... most Duck/Husky fans would admit that!
