US Surgeon General Jerome Adams said Monday that wearing face masks could actually increase a person's risk of contracting COVID-19, echoing remarks he made on Saturday that called for people to "stop buying masks."
Editor's note (April 13, 2020): Since this story's publication, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended that Americans wear cloth masks or face coverings when in public to try to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

The hemming and hawing about masks over the course of this thing has been fucking astounding.
They don't work, then they do, but you shouldn't buy them because first responders can't get them, okay buy them because you're killing grandma, but if you can't any old piece of cloth will also do.
My wife was wearing them religiously early on and was criticized on one occasion at the grocery store. Now 2/3 of people in stores are wearing them and you get criticized if you don't. -
