Dr Fauci said the China virus is a joke

Fauci doesn't want people to worry about coronavirus, the danger of which is "just minuscule." But he does want them to take precautions against the "influenza outbreak, which is having its second wave."

"We have more kids dying of flu this year at this time than in the last decade or more," he said. "At the same time people are worrying about going to a Chinese restaurant. The threat is (we have) a pretty bad influenza season, particularly dangerous for our children."

Problem with much of South America is there love of socialism and theftocracy. Chile has been educating a bunch of wannabe commies. You would have thought they learned that communism means economic misery. But no. Look at Venezuela. Argentina should be an economic powerhouse, but they have the fatal love of socialism drilled into them. Can't quit it.

The Chinese are dirty commies but the work ethic is there which is why they’ve been successful at the mercantilist thing to date.

They have also been successful because both parties have allowed the chicoms to steal our intellectual property for decades. Look at the reaction from both RINOs and dems when Trump finally said enough and started to attack the problem. The hysterical wailing was a good clue that Trump was over the target. Even now, we have the entire dem party and the MSM shilling chicom propaganda to try to unseat Trump and get Slo Joe into the presidency so they can control him. A guy who is bought and paid for by the chicoms. dodo and the counselor are just more examples.

Things move fast with coronavirus. Sounds like you can't handle the ups and downs of global pandemics.

How many times has a ridiculous Kim Grinolds expression morphed into a oft-used phrase at HH?

Yeah it's the government's fault that American companies entered into JVs with forced tech transfer agreements knowing that they were partnering with a country that is notorious for cheating. Or that American companies don't do their HR due diligence when hiring hiring Chinese foreign nationals (for less $$$ than their American counterparts) to perform work that is susceptible to IP theft. Or that we didn't craft legislation that forced private industry to harden their IT security infrastructure to ward of cyber attacks. Now that short-term benefits of doing business with/in China have dried up let's bail these companies out because for some reason its not their fault that their in this position.

True we? have steadily transitioned away from manufacturing and into services for most of the quarter century and we're happy to benefit from China's cheap labor for most of that time. Now that China has modernized it's become a way bigger problem because the IP that they're now stealing is our? bread and butter.

You can tell how our "American" companies kowtow to the chicoms for some up front money. Look at the NBA. You would think that the businesses who were getting killed on IP and patent and trademark theft would be pushing hard to get it stopped. But they aren't. It's just trying to get some money and turn the other cheek. How many Microsoft Windows 10 licenses and Microsoft Office licenses do you think the chicoms have? 10% legit? 90% ripped off? Got no idea but it has to be large. American music and movies - ripped right and left. Trump started on IP theft and American businesses were really silent about it. But were screaming for tariff relief.

Speaking to one part of your paragraph... 80% of the Chinese population lives in third world poverty. I’m not sure if we can count that as modernized.

For the external world, the 20% that aren’t are hugely impactful. The 80% is a big domestic problem, an idea I stole from our? friend Friedman.

The Chinese located in the coastal regions are the ones who have largely benefited from their growing economy and infrastructure. The fact is that the chicoms still don't have enough interior infrastructure like modern roads, water and sewer facilities and electricity. They are building cheap ass polluting coal plants with no scrubbers because that's all they can afford and they are worried about a rural backlash. No one eats bats and pangolins and phu*cking cats if they have access to chicken, pork and beef. Back in the day Americans ate squirrels, opossums and raccoons and damn near every part of a pig or cow. Now we don't. Cracking down on wet markets in China is as popular as shutting down liquor stores in the US.
