Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said Friday that long-term environmental racism and income inequality were causing coronavirus to disproportionately affect minorities.

“COVID deaths are disproportionately spiking in Black + Brown communities,” Ocasio-Cortez began, explaining that the reason for that was related to decades of racial and income inequality.

I had to help a friend in need this morning in South Atlanta Metro area. I live in North Atlanta. Where I live there is zero traffic. No rush hour traffic, nada. I drove down South of the airport into a 90% black area. It took me 20 minutes to go 4 miles once I got off the highway. The traffic was packed. Every fast food joint had a line up of cars as well as patrons inside. Krispy Kreme? Packed. This is 11 am. The beggars were out, the gas stations had hangerouters all over the place and weirdest was that I passed 13 banks and every single one of them had lines out the door, packed. Between payday and looking for a way to get their slice of the virus stimulus, the banks were packed. No one was practicing safe space. I saw no one rubbing their hands with sanitizer.

If one would like to know where this thing is going to blow up in GA, all they need to do is look at the black communities. They are literally acting like nothing is happening.

Honest to God I thought I was on Mars. These people know all about the virus. but are doing nothing to prevent it. Whitey has nothing to do with that.

This is going to come as a shock to you, but poor people tend to live in less desirable parts of town more so than rich people. These poor in urban areas are made up mostly of black and brown people, while in rural areas they are mostly white. The less desirable parts of town in urban areas are closer to industry and rail roads and freeways.

In AOC's world this what's known as "environmental racism."

Near where I live in the SF Bay Area, there is a big ass Chevron refinery in Richmond, CA that's been there for over 100 years. It was there long before there were very many people living in that area. During WWII Richmond was a boom town on account of the shipyards and manufacturing that was taking place there. Hundreds of thousand of people, many of whom were black moved into the area looking to work in those ship and railroad yards.

Those jobs are now all long gone but many of the kids and grand kids of the people who moved to Richmond to do those jobs remain and continue to live in that area. According to AOC and her ilk Chevron is engaging in "environmental racism" by continuing to operate their oil refinery that has existed in the very same location for over 100 years.

Bend makes an accurate observation. You crap your pants an think it's the POD. Go get your hug and a ribbon.

Anyone who saw Spring Breakers or Mardi Gras attendees knows this is not exclusively a black or white behavior. With college age kids it is a feeling of "I am indestructible", with the black community I was in today I would say it was a complete lack of caring and insane irresponsibility by an older crowd that should be showing better judgement.

Mello Dawg is just a rat racist. The first thing he thinks of when he sees black is "dumb". He is the poster child for the reason there can never be an all inclusive honest discussion about race in this country.
