I'm fourth of five sons and understood the value of pants was to keep you knees from bleeding on the blacktop. Tough skins kept your knees from bending and yes bleeding. Youngest of 5 boys and there was no way in hell mom was going to pay for a pair of Levi’s that were going to wear out or get torn up in a few weeks.georgiaduck said:

Well, the mind altering substance part is true any way.
Relatedly it was also when they started expelling kids for even defending themselves in a fight. That was when we started settling stuff in the 711 parking lot off Warner. -
I instructed my kids that they were never allowed to start a fight. Unacceptable. But if attacked they were to finish the fight and win. Always to defend themselves and those that couldn't defend themselves. I'd deal with the school and there would be no punishment from me.
