We'll settle our differences at the HH patio suite for the Michigan game and smoke a peace pipe. For now, these are your options.RaceBannon said:Some non solo artists on this list

I'm like Pup. I don't need Google. Is a boring ass GOAT pole, however. Who would you have instead?minion_doog said:Just poast the Google top ten and be done lather rinse repeat

I never really fell in love with an artist or band, I like songs and performances.YellowSnow said:

I Googled to look at artists outside of your list and don't feel skrongly about any, there or here.
*the closest I could get to participating would be a stretch in genre and artist type, Trent Reznor -

Music shit polling is in often an exercise in damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Stick to GOATs and it’s boring. Go too niche and it’s the cool kids trying to show off how special their taste is.minion_doog said:

In this list it’s Dylan vs Elvis. I probably listen to Dylan or Neil Young more than Elvis. But he’s really second only to the Beatles in terms of changing the course of popular music. -
Elvis PresleyI do plan on partnering with @dnc to do the late 80s to the present rock NIT tournament. Should be a good one.

Elvis PresleyThere's not a woman on Earth then or now who wouldn't fuck peak Elvis.
-
Elvis PresleyWrite in for Prince but I'm not sure he counts as "Rock".

Neil YoungI don't know about him qualifying for this poll, but I'm always going to vote for Neil. The rest of the list would rank as follows:
Fuck off peter puffer
Dylan
Hendrix
Berry
John
Simon
Bowie
Springsteen
Elvis
Reno -
Elvis Presley
How do you figure Neil not being a top 10 solo artist of the rock era? He’s second only to Dylan as a songwriter and in some respects his body of work is more impressive. He was making great albums into the 90s.chuck said:I don't know about him qualifying for this poll, but I'm always going to vote for Neil. The rest of the list would rank as follows:

Chuck BerryShakira “playing” that guitar for 10 seconds is enough for me to put her #1

Fuck off Row Peter Puffer, the correct answer is...tie - elton john, elvis, dylan, berry, simon
they all were/are great
Young is great but to me he got famous in bands
What no Rod Stewart?
-
Neil Young
Oh I put him at #1 easily provided he fits the definition of a solo artist. Its just that these categories...front man, solo artist...are a little vague to me.YellowSnow said:

Reno81%90% of Neil's body of work was outside of Buffalo Springfield and CSNY. I don't know where this narrative is coming from that he was in "groups" more than he was a "solo" act. -
Fuck off Row Peter Puffer, the correct answer is...Yellow Brick Road is a masterpiece, but I love me some Billy Joel. And not certain if they count, but Carly Simon, Neil Diamond, and James Taylor are some other faves. Oh and Kelly Clarkson. Tee hee. Joe Walsh also wrote a great song for the second greatest movie of all time.

I get what you're saying. I'm fine with categorizing him that way. I just think the lines are blurry and an argument can be made either way. He's bounced between different projects, genres and backing outfits so many times and for so long. He kind of defies clean categorization. -
Billy Joel puts on a helluva show. See it before he croaks.huskyhooligan said:Yellow Brick Road is a masterpiece, but I love me some Billy Joel.
