On the recruiting front, Yary has already visited Washington and has the Huskies high on his list.

“I had a great visit and I love the fit in their program,” Yary said. “I love how they use the tight end in their offense and they put more tight ends in to the League (NFL) then anyone and that’s big for me. I like how I would be utilized in the offense.

“They have a new OC and a new TE coach but I don’t think that will be that big of a factor for me. Coach Lake said the offense won’t change that much and the tight end is still going to be a big factor. I was told they want to live out of 11 and 12 personal so I think it will be good. I talked with new TE coach Derham Cato Sunday night and he’ll be coming in for a home visit next week.”

Yary’s last two visits will be to USC (Jan. 24) and Arizona State (Jan. 31).

“USC said they would use me the same way they use Drake London right now,” Yary said. “It’s like a flex out wide position, almost like a big receiver and I think I’m fast enough to play it. That excites me and I’m looking forward to getting over there and taking that visit.

“ASU is a new school for me but they just got the OC from Boise State, Zak Hill and I like what he wants to do. He wants to use the tight end and they don’t have many on the roster. He reached out to me right when he got the job and I’ve been talking to them a lot ever since. The plan is to take these last two visits and then I’ll make my decision on Signing Day.”

Wait? You mean relationships in recruiting are vastly overrated? I thought that you had to recruit kids for years to have a chance?

Or was that more Doogman $12.95 bullshit?

LOL ...ASU. I can see them in a couple of years saying "Man if you didn't have a defense we'd put 70 points on you"

UW tight end target Jack Yary, who included the Huskies this week as one of the top-3 schools he's currently looking at before making his commitment, will not be playing in the game. He tweaked an ankle that was already an issue for him, so he'll be heading back home.

In between. When you think recruiting is any one thing, you’re overrating the importance. The importance of certain things varies from player to player. The one constant is winning. If you win, good recruits will want to come play for your school.

I wonder if he goes to USC if they have to get a different OC.

If they get someone who doesn’t run air raid before signing day he’ll be a Trojan.

I'm copy and pasting this 3rd hand as I took it off the doogman bored from someone who took it from the USC board, but apparently one of the USC Mods said this:

"I'm not hearing good things on Yary. In fact, I'm hearing that a lot of schools are backing off of him now and SC might be next in line. There are a few issues at play, which I'm not totally clear to get into. But multiple sources are telling me it's not looking good for him....And to be clear, this has NOTHING to do with him playing tight end or tight ends being utilized in the Trojans offense. This isn't on USC."

Meanwhile, at ASU (which is really in need of a tight end) their board reports "ASU has pulled the plug on its Jack Yary recruitment. Doubtful that he was going to end up with the Sun Devils and there were some concerns in the last two weeks about his responsiveness through the normal recruiting process."

If ASU has to move on, UW is likely moving on as well for whatever that means. Sani is our guy. Feel free to bump this when Yary commits. However, I will say Yary isn't even following Derham Cato on twitter so that's another ominous sign.

Yet again from what ASU is saying here, it seems they're moving on because Yary really wasn't interested. This also sounds like a copout from USC's POV. Who really knows...

    What’s that supposed to mean?

    Sounds weird.

If USC and ASU are not recruiting him anymore then this means:

    - yary is all UW and told them to fuck off
    - since we're recruiting some other guys yary told us to fuck off as he's going a completely different direction
    - yary has some fucked up personal problems that make him an unrecruitable athlete
    - yary has some bad academics that have come into play and he's going JUCO ... although we're talking ASU so it's probably not academics

for the most part that sounds right. I'd put my money on your first 2 points, though. At this stage Jack and his dad have decided where to go and it isn't USC nor ASU so that leaves us and the field.

This has gotten pretty weird unless UW actually closed him already. Fetters' fuck up...calling him a commit...could be telling. I hope it is. A solid close with a DL and another high end TE would be nice.

I actually think things are sounding more like 3 or 4 are the most likely scenarios based on what's been put out there in the last few days.

Fetters doesn't know shit. I hope it's true but the fact that we brought in Sani makes me think otherwise.

There's no smoke at all about Yary picking UW other than one BTP post (lol) from weeks ago.

UW moved on like I move on when she tells me to get lost
