LMC = SubK?

How were his dbs at Vanderbilt

Dude was a GA here during the time of Budda, Sydney, Rapp, Jordan, Byron, etc. I'm game
-
Will Harris needs to have a sit down with the Bobs.
-
Quit with this shit. No school worth a shit has fans that care about this type of bullshit.Beno4Life said:Damn. Don’t really love this hire.
I mean, he’s from Compton and went to Orange Lutheran and he’s black.
Played at Stanford and then GA at UW and then Vandy.
Feels like a Pete hire. I wanted Alexander cause he brought some swaggy energy.
Plus, I feel like this assures more of Gregory, which is just so deflating. -
Coaches hire their buddies. Needed somebody fairly cheap that he can trust and this guy fit the bill.DoogDawg said:This seems like a safe hire and makes a lot of sense. Rather than trying to reinvent the DB coaching with Gerald, he’s going to try to keep the current philosophy and coaching going by bringing in another disciple who learned under him. Might not be a sexy hire but it makes a ton of sense. Jimmy isn’t looking to rock the boat too much on what’s already working.
GA probably wants to move up. UW is a better program than Cal despite them owning us, but even with a bullshit co-dc title, it’s a lateral move with probably better pay. -
If Jen is really yanking the money leash after Petersen let her off the hook for like 15mm, if we're really going to spend appreciably less on total coach outlay by design, fuck this program. The money to Bush is fucking sunk cost that we should be thrilled to be cutting bait so quickly and cheaply.RoadDawg55 said:

If we find out Jimmy REALLY wanted GA and was told no by AD bursar, that will be super disappointing. @sonics1993 is that the word? -

During one of your podcasts, Corky I kept barking, to which you yelled "Put a cork in it, Corky!"RaceBannon said:

That was DNC-level bullying. -
@sonics1993 says hes not a fan of the hire because he doesnt think he'll be a good recruiter. Luckily we have a pretty good record on hires that are reviled for their assumed lack of recruiting prowess
-
Does LMC hate it? Good, sign me up.

The aren’t going to spend big money for a 2nd DB coach. You know Lake will still be more involved there than anywhere else too.Emoterman said:

Normally I’d agree but DDY rally likes the hire.GreenRiverGatorz said:Does LMC hate it? Good, sign me up.
Kiss. Of. Death. -
Last night I saw he didn’t have a position announced and they were waiting to fill the entire staff before announcing his position.
Also he was CB coach at Vandy not DB.
Also why the fuck do we need two DB coaches when our head coach is a DB coach.
In conclusion I hope this means Will Harris is Door. Ass. Out. -
We are going have a staff of recruiters and nobody to actually coach

If they fire Gregory they have to pay his buy out as well. We will see what happens. They should have plenty of money to put together a good staff with the difference between Pete and lake.RoadDawg55 said:

Harris is staying, they said in the release he would coach DBs with Harris. I imagine Harris safeties coach, TB corners coach.dnc said:Last night I saw he didn’t have a position announced and they were waiting to fill the entire staff before announcing his position.

Seriously. If he still needs help coaching the DBs at this point, he needs to sell his fucking couch.FremontTroll said:Will Harris needs to have a sit down with the Bobs.

After the tenth coach was added, more and more teams are employing two coaches for the secondary. I don't take it as a knock on Harris at all.EsophagealFeces said:

Who has GA recruited that has convinced everyone he's a great recruiter? The obsession with GA among a faction of the fanbase is approaching Jordan Banks territory.bananasnblondes said:@sonics1993 says hes not a fan of the hire because he doesnt think he'll be a good recruiter. In a typical scenario I could get behind it.insinceredawg said:

On a team with a DB coach as a HC, who should be best qualified to a) coach the DB coach and b) help close DB recruits it makes no sense at all.
I'd much rather have a dedicated ST coach or a second OL coach than a second DB coach with Jimmy as HC.
First rule of leadership is you staff your weaknesses, not your strengths.

The obsession is brought to you by the same portion of our fan base so it makes sense. I like GA but he likely wants a coordinator job this year or next.insinceredawg said:

If he stays on as secondary coach at cal for more than a year the hire of brown is a little curious, but I think Alexander is thinking bigger than secondary coach at uw. Just my two cents. -
The secondary is the crux of Kwat's defense. We play with 5-7 of them on the field all game with a huge variety of alignments and assignments. It's a big difference from the traditional two corner, two safety with some nickel thrown in defenses. Harris has never been a sole secondary coach and Lake wont have time to hold his hand. This is a good hire fuckos.
But...I wouldn't lose any sleep if Harris had been replaced by an experienced coach who could handle the whole secondary either. I'm just failing to see anything negative about the move. -
GA has been a solid coach at Cal and I'd love to have him for his coaching ability but there's definitely some doog legend in his mythos. As has been pointed out, his recruiting has been fine but nothing spectacular. He's done well with lower-tier pac 12 db recruits. A lot of people assume hed be a great recruiter at UW because it's a step up from Cal in terms of program perception and he was active on twitter when he was here before which made him very favorable to some of the posters here.AtomicDawg said:

The other aspect of this is that there seems to be an expectation among our fanbase that hes yearning to "return" to UW and that he would clearly be the #1 choice because of his links to the program. The problem is that this is probably utter bullshit. Hes not from Washington and played college ball at Boise. His only connection to UW was being a GA here for 1 year in 2015 when we sucked. He left after that year to to be an intern in the NFL. It could very well be that Jommy offered him a lot of money to come here and he said, "nah, I'm waiting to see what my options are"
He's a solid coach, but probably not the chosen one that the message boards and podcasts make him out to be
