Let's go down the list of PAC Coaches to see how good Lorenzo really is:

Washington State: No Coach - rumors of Kelvin Sampson or Ernesto filling the job. Sampson coached in a Final Four and Elite Eight at that basketball power known as Oklahoma. Ernesto got to the Elite Eight twice.

Oregon State: Craig Robinson ... not a great coach but he's got connections that give free pub.

Oregon: Dana Altman ... Got to the Sweet Sixteen last year ... track record of getting to the Dance w/ a mid-major school in Creighton

Cal: Mike Montgomery ... Has a Final Four and Elite Eight appearance

Stanford: Johnny Dawkins ... Has rebuilt Stanford back to a NCAA team ... in the Sweet Sixteen this weekend and his team has to be a favorite to get to the Elite Eight after beating a #2 seed in Kansas (a seed that Romar's never beat). Played in the National Championship game as a player.

USC: Andy Enfield ... Took Florida Gulf Coast to a Sweet Sixteen as a #15 seed ... beat a #2 seed in the process

UCLA: Steve Alford ... Coaching in his second Sweet Sixteen ... won a national championship as a player.

Utah: Larry Krystkowiak ... made the NCAAs in his only 2 years at Montana ... has taken Utah from 3 conference wins (and 6 overall) his first season there to 9 conference wins (and 21 overall) by his third season.

Colorado: Made the NCAAs 3 straight years at Colorado and had a Top 20 team this year before Spencer Dinwiddie tore up his ACL. Colorado's made 13 NCAA Tournaments in this history of the school, and only 5 since 1970.

Arizona St: Herb Sendek ... Has made the Sweet Sixteen once when at NC State

Arizona: Sean Miller ... Has made 2 Sweet 16s and 2 Elite Eights in his 9 completed seasons as a NCAA Head Coach ... has a #1 seed still going this year and has to be a favorite to get to the Title Game.

Washington: Lorenzo Romar ... 3 Sweet 16s in 18 years as Head Coach.

Where does Romar rank in this grouping?

    Bump.

    They all suck.

Disagree. It's stupid to judge coaches strictly on tournament success. Miller is a good coach. He's going to pull in great talent year in and year out. He will have many more chances at tournament success. He lost by one point. A couple of free throws or a missed wide open jumper and he's in the Final 4. I don't think he is an incredible x's and o's coach, but at some point he could put together a couple of final 4 appearances and a title. It's way too early to say he sucks. Lute Olsen only won one title.

Until this year, Bo Ryan has done poorly in the tournament. There are probably less than 10 coaches I would rather have. He's a very good coach.

    RoadDoog gonna RoadDoog.

He had five fucking minutes to draw up a final play and Arizona never even got a shot.
Didn't even watch the game. Shit happens though. Miller is one of the better coaches with the potential to be very good. You must have missed where I said I don't think he's a great x's and o's coach. He's going to have really good talent every year though, and it's only a matter of time until he breaks through.

    disagree

He's had like 5 years? IDK, CBB is dreck so I don't watch much. I know he's had at least 4. He has F4 talent. I know for sure he has more talent than a slow, white boy Wiskey team. If I'm Greg Byrne (a.d.), the heat gets turned up a little bit. This was their year.

He's got 2 five star's and the next Isaiah Thomas coming in next year. He's pulling in elite talent every year. Another 5 star already committed for 2015. Arizona has a stranglehold on the Pac 12 with UCLA and it's not changing anytime soon. You guys are sounding like Beach on doogman. He's got faults, but he's a good coach. It's only a matter of time before he makes a couple final 4's.

    elite recruiter? absolutely
    great coach? no
that's what I think of him. At some point he will have enough talent that he will break through, but it won't be because he's a great coach

A better way of what I was basically trying to post. His recruiting makes him a very good coach. I don't think Calipari is great either, and have seen him look like a terrible coach at times, but very few teams wouldn't trade their coach for him. Miller is Calipari light.

Well Loot is the standard, kind of like James is our fball standard. Loot actually created the mess they just are getting out of. He took a season off due to a divorce and it ended up setting the program back about 4 years.

Anyway I have no doubt that Miller can keep getting elite recruits. I'm saying that AZ fans have a right to be disappointed right now.

I thought he took a year off due to his wife dying?
