Was Tosh a decent coach?
-
No. Only good with coffee cups.GrundleStiltzkin said:Was Tosh a decent coach?

Probably not but Kwat will be there to help him out with OLBs. He's an elite recruiter and if we're going to compete with Oregon and USC in the next few years on the recruiting trail we're going to need guys like him.GrundleStiltzkin said:Was Tosh a decent coach?

If he can't hold his own as a position coach, no thanks.insinceredawg said:

This is all talk though, UW would never bring him back. -
True, it's a pipe dream. But he did hold his own as the OLB coach on a national championship Bama team so there's that.GrundleStiltzkin said:

Did Bob Gregory get fired or am I missing something?
-
I could get behind Tosh. He’s actually the rare position coach that is a difference maker as a recruiter.
-
Its funny you guys think Peterman is gone gone.
-
Why not give PGOS a shot?
-
Lupoi brought Shaq Thompson to UW. Anyone else?
I know he has been a great recruiter at other stops, but he didn't stem the generally stagnant to downward trend in recruiting under Sark. -
He brought Ale Kaho to Bama too, people forget.
-
JoJo Mathis. He laid the ground work for getting Vita into the program. Also recruited Pio Vatuvei and Marcus Farria who didn't last but had talent. I think Vatuvei ended up at Louisville and had a solid career.chuck said:Lupoi brought Shaq Thompson to UW. Anyone else?

The problem with caring so much about coaches that recruit is that the players go to school by tiers. The ones offered by the blue bloods go there. We are a step below. A great recruiter at Oregon State isn’t beating UW for a recruit they both really want, just like UW normally loses to USC. Not always, but that’s generally the case which is why hiring the best coaches is more important than recruiters.chuck said:Lupoi brought Shaq Thompson to UW. Anyone else?

Tosh had a bigger impact on recruiting classes at Cal than he did at UW.RoadDawg55 said:

Mathis and Qualls were both good players, but the blue bloods weren't bothering with them because neither were sure things to pass admissions. Farria... same. Vatuvei, iirc, was a questionable kid who got a quick boot.
Groundwork for Vita? He was not an elite recruit according to rankings or offers.
Tosh delivered a coffee cup of cash to a kid who was never, ever going to qualify and got caught for it. Fuck that guy. -

Has nothing to do with this, but he has to be the poster boy of the good ol boys club in football. He was never even a good DC. Most years he had terrible defenses.Emoterman said: -
Would love him as OLB coach but doubt Jen would allow that.

So then if we hire Tosh can we get him to bring Kaho back?GaryFromTeenMom said:He brought Ale Kaho to Bama too, people forget.
