    USC’s prez won’t let the new AD hire Urban. It’s gonna be Franklin.

    PAPN went long on this topic this week. Scott Wolf has been covering it too. Carol Folt doesn’t want Urban’s baggage, and reportedly has privately called him “radioactive.” Not surprisingly, Folt denied any overt hiring restrictions at Bohn’s intro presser this week. Helton is still the putative coach, and they played a game today. But USC is very publicity-conscious after so many scandals. If Folt doesn’t want Meyer, it’s isn’t gonna be Meyer.

    The next most obvious candidate is Franklin. With Pedo State’s loss today, USC won’t have to wait til January to get him.

    Radioactive comments are a red herring. They’re trying to get him but if they don’t they want it to appear they didn’t want him.

    Franklin wants no part of Southern California and it’s boosters. He can loose all he wants to at State College as long as he does it the right way. He gets top recruits to buy into the culture. At worse he has been a few players short of a title shot. He doesn’t really have the pressure off Having to be beat Ohio State year in and out, he just has to compete and maintain a clean program. There are no outrageous expectations. He doesn’t have to make the college playoffs every year for that stadium to pack over 105,000 people and another 40,000 in the parking lots.

    Look at Penn State attendance, even in the dark years.

    And you do realize New York City is 200 miles from State college Pennsylvania, right?

    I’ll be shocked if USC hires Meyer. Then again....LA has absolutely no laws or rules so WTF do I know.

    You can kill/rape/ pillage.....whatever and there are no repercussions for anything

    USC is living under a microscope. If Folt had even the slightest interest in Meyer, why would she leak a "radioactive" comment?

    because she wants it to look like one of two things:

    1) she doesn't hire him because she can't afford him, his baggage doesn't make it past the board of regents (or whoever is ultimately giving the yes/no), or he says nope and it now looks like she didn't want him at all....she wins.

    2) she gets him and she becomes known as the most shrewd AD of all time (temporarily) because she got the greatest coach in history worked out for USC...she wins.

    This kind of public and/or leaked rhetoric is always done so it shouldn't be a surprise. Anyone remember the Nick Saban leaving Miami shit?
