There are no outrageous expectations. He doesn’t have to make the college playoffs every year for that stadium to pack over 105,000 people and another 40,000 in the parking lots.
Look at Penn State attendance, even in the dark years.
And you do realize New York City is 200 miles from State college Pennsylvania, right?

It’s a little bit better job than Penn State. A good coach can win a natty at either. LA > College Station. There is probably a little more money available at USC, but both schools have deep pockets.
What did Meyer even do that was SOOO bad? He was too loyal to a family friend and lied to the media. He also had criminals on his Florida teams. He’s just a football coach. He’s not here to change the world. He’s hired to win games. He didn’t actually do anything himself.

This. I have it on good authority - hot blonde intern - that this is a bigger driver than most realize. USC has been embroiled with one scandal after another. It's been an embarrassing time for SC over the last 5+ years. At the same tim they've been raising $$ like crazy and trying hard to compete in the academic big leagues, which means being less Ohio State and more Duke. Having a Barry Switzer-like coach running the show is likely a thing of the past for THE University of Southern California. I don't see it based on what ive been told by said intern.
