Everyone's expectations are way beyond what's realistic, IMO. Two true freshmen are not going to lead them to the Sweet 16 and beyond. UW is not Kentucky with 4 and 5 stars riding the bench.

Yes but the PAC 12 is bad at sports so it's not like you have to be that good to contend for a conference title and pile up some wins. It's possible.BleachedAnusDawg said:Everyone's expectations are way beyond what's realistic, IMO. Two true freshmen are not going to lead them to the Sweet 16 and beyond. Glad to see Wright get phased out of the starting line up. Bey has a way higher ceiling and isn’t a liability on offense.
5- Stewart
4- McDaniels
3 - Bey
2 - Naz
1 - Hardy/Green
Good starting line up. Hopefully Battle can contribute as a shooter off the bench. Use Wright/Timmons based on match ups. I would be happy to see Roberts or BPJ pass Timmons as well. If they can’t, I won’t expect much from them in the careers. -
It sucks that we have so much flexibility everywhere except for PG. Hardy isn’t that good, hopefully Green is, and Tshonis is a true frosh 3 star. Maybe Bey or Naz can handle it if it boils down to that. If either of them could play PG this team would be so much better.
I think that’s going to force us into a very slow grind it out pace. We have the bigs to do that. And the depth to play aggressive around the hoop. Length in the zone will be a problem for opponents unless they catch fire from deep. Without Thybulle generating TOs constantly, could be a very slow year. -
Time for Hop to earn his paycheck as an offensive coach.
-
Oregon turned their season around and made the sweet sixteen last year when they slowed shit down and ground opponents into dust. I think we can do that this year. Once the freshman and redshirt freshman get their reads down we could tighten the screws defensively and have just enough offense with Naz, Stewart, JMac and Bey to make a run to the second weekend of the NCAA's. The defense in the first half of the year won't be indicative of what this team should do in the second. If the Dwags get their shit together earlier than I think then this could be a pretty special year.

Yeah there’s a good chance that the top end talent can carry us pretty far. I’m just concerned there is nobody to initiate the offense without Hop dialing up all sorts of plays. I haven’t really seen that from him yet.
-
I don’t think the offense will struggle much. Stewart, MsDaniels, and Carter are three capable scorers. Add in Quade Green hopefully getting 10-12 per game and we’re looking okay.
Without McDaniels and Green, I understand why we struggled on offense. Missing two of your better scorers will do that. -
Why is everyone so confident that Hardy "isn't very good" ? Did I miss him playing a season already?
-
They haven't had a pg for years. Hardy can't be worse.

Skipping the Bowl game to focus on the draft

If Hop’s offensive system is like Boeheim’s, don’t count on it. Syracuse is decent on offense when they have good players. They are terrible and play really ugly games a lot of years when they don’t have go to guys.ThomasFremont said:Yeah there’s a good chance that the top end talent can carry us pretty far. Hop's offense relied a lot on iso undersized Dickerson inside against shitty opponents and Nowell iso midrange game... I havent been particularly impressed with Hops offensive schemes even if many of the players he has had so far have had severe limitations.RoadDawg55 said:

Sounds like good coaching to me imo. Getting your best offensive players with room/space to go.
-
I don’t think he’s a great offensive coach. It doesn’t matter too much if he recruits well and keeps the defense consistently at a high level.Houhusky said:

I got shouted down by the early adopters for criticizing Hop’s offense. Obviously the defense is legit. And he’s recruiting at a high level with only a few local misses.
However, I want to see an offense that dictates the action. Force the defense to adapt to you. Stop passing the ball around and hoping your best player does something as the clock expires. -
McDaniels? If so, that’s huge because Stewart is great.backthepack said:He’s our best player rather easily imo
