No Ballz Jimmy

I don't know who it's on but the tackling is astonishing. It doesn't appear like the defense misses a ton of tackles because the guys in position don't even come close, they just dive at the legs or watch the RB go by. Not even slowing down the ball carrier most of the time.

Jimmy was as flat as a pancake last night.

Also how many times did WE stand up the running back but then Stanford somehow pushed the pile forward another 3-5 yards.
It’s like we are actively trying to avoid injuring the other team by tackling way to high, not driving through, and avoiding taking out the legs at all costs. -
James is not good in game if things aren't working
Experience required I guess
Not sure what we are paying Petersen for -
Is this the same Jimmy that's walked on water around here lately?

I said after Stanford 2017 that giving Jimmy playcalling was a mistakecreepycoug said:Is this the same Jimmy that's walked on water around here lately?
If you don't run the air raid he seems lost -
I'm giving you shit because I haven't seen a collective man crush on a coach like the one that was displayed here for Lake in some time.RaceBannon said:

Virtually any questioning of him would start a 20 page thread. -
Hes a great recruiter and his defensive backs are legit
Just not sure the price to keep him is worth taking Kwat off the gameday calls
There's a lot to like about Jimmy -
Another soft boat to work and sip PSLs from in office espresso machine coach.

If you dare criticize Jimmy Lake, you won't last long.

What's most astonishing is how bad we've been at defending screens. We used to have linebackers with speed who could close sideline to sideline. Our corners were adept at shedding blocks and winning one-on-one battles. We played our safeties within 20 yards of the LOS so they could actually defend in the flat. Now we do literally none of those things despite having the personnel to do 2/3 of them (linebackers lol). It's hard to know who's primarily responsible for this regression, but I have to assume Jimmy.

The LBs are fucking terrible. Manu tackles like he's trying to knock a candy bar off the circular wire in a vending machine. A bunch of guys on the defense do.GreenRiverGatorz said:What's most astonishing is how bad we've been at defending screens. When he was pushing his own player in the back, late in the game, standing straight up, not getting low like he wanted to tackle anyone, I saw a player with no natural instinct, talent, or brains. -
Manu really is garbage.TurdBomber said:

They let that faggot with pink gloves gloat and run for a career high. It was hard to watch. This team regressed five fucking years.

Thing is this: If we had receivers who could get open and catch a ball, maybe the D isn't exhausted by being on the field for 45 minutes. It all goes back to the shitty, unproductive offense in my mind. Yes, our LBs are liquid shit, but our WRs are fucking cancer.
-
We gave up three straight scoring drives and 200+ yards to start the game. Our WRs being shit is unrelated to our defense being simultaneously their own brand of shit.TurdBomber said:Thing is this: If we had receivers who could get open and catch a ball, maybe the D isn't exhausted by being on the field for 45 minutes. Jimmy is good. But his defense scheme is a goldilocks scheme. It's great for underperforming teams but the minute it faces a physical team it collapses. I watched Penn St play a week ago. That's a good team...aggressive defense. Linebackers that play with controlled anger. I think they win out until Ohio State.
Im just not a fan of the "bend but don't break" defense philosophy. Often these defenses break when they meet good competition. I think the reason you recruit good DB is to put them on an island and know the statistical odds should be in your favor. This team has routinely gone in big games and crapped the bed. -

Time of possession matters. Sustaining drives matters.GreenRiverGatorz said:

Not saying the UW isn't porous as fuck. Saying that as bad as the D was, the O was even worse, and the largest reason for the loss.
Swap out the shit receivers and you've got a different ballgame. -
I miss kawasaki. please take the job back. fuck jimmy
-
Yeah but what if he leaves
How do you expect to keep pulling in these sick LBs and WRs without him -
The thing I've finally started to realize about this team is I hate watching them even when they win. A soft, bend-but-don't-break defense with no ability to rush the QB. An offense obsessed with bubble screens and unnecessary pre-snap motion. Emotionless, robot-players who seem muted by the coaches and overwhelmed by the size of the playbook. Its fucking awful. It's just not any fun to watch... and never will be as long as Pete is here. Pete has made watching husky football, win or lose, a miserable experience.

Yep. This team is miserable to watch. Not entertaining even in victory. The offense last year made me hate this team and this sport. And nothing has changed. They are the worst thing on TV every week.guntlove said:The thing I've finally started to realize about this team is I hate watching them even when they win. i am not a fan of taking a job from a black coach, but this is a case where we need to let our jimmy go and find better place in the big 12. he will ge good dc there. caz he sure as fuck cant buy stop

We sure Kwat is not running the defense?

You guys realize Kwat is still the one in the booth, right?
The defense was bad last night. It was still good enough to win. The offense is the biggest issue rather easily.
Oh and @FirePete is a retard.
Larger. Rinse. Repeat. -
Huge disagree. The defense was the biggest issue last night and it's a personnel deficiency that can't be fixed. The offense, as horrid as its been, still has the pieces to be really good if Bush/Hamdan get their heads out of their asses.dnc said:

Stanford put up nearly 500 yards on us. A shitty Stanford offense with a backup QB and nearly their entire OL missing. They absolutely dominated us, ran and threw at will, and completely controlled the tempo of the game. They doubled our time of possession because our defense couldn't do shit to get them off the field. The 23 points on the scoreboard don't even come close to capturing how thoroughly our defense was toyed with. And unless Sirmon or Tafisi grow up in a hurry, this is just the beginning. We've only faced Cal and two conference opponents missing their starting QBs. Actual offenses are going to fucking feast on us.
