But wait. Theres more
-You could make an argument that UW and Oregon's classes were close last year, even though there is a large gap of teams between the two classes. But Oregon's guys are already making noise this year, legitimate 1st round blue chip prospects all over on defense. UW's cycle might develop guys into that level, but most of their recruits don't appear to have that ceiling, and many won't see the field for a couple years.
It's an interesting to dilemma.
Petersen's program took three years to build, then they actualized their program in 2016. They won 76-21 inside Autzen, while some of Oregon's in state prospects committed to UW after that game. (Or something like that, I forgot).
UW should always be a top 15 team, if they're not that's not good for Oregon.
We're entering year two of Cristobal's program, with a noticeably better team than UW. UW does not look good right now vs. USC in the first quarter, that might change but USC's defensive line is breaking down UW's front.
-Just because he is a top 5 player does not mean he would not see that as a steep hill to a starting spot with our 2 LB and a STUD defense. Where as Washington seems like a lot easier task to crack into the starting lineup with much less talent fighting for 3 or 4 spots.
-This is going to sound terrible but watching him on local news tonight and a brief interview with him after he announced at a school assembly for the Army All-American game................he isn't an OKG for Oregon. Washington got him and I'm sure they are happy with him. But this kid is pretty happy with himself as well.
-He's a top five player in the country. If he's worried about having to compete…then we don't want him.
-If Smalls doesn't sign by December he's ours. Just watch
