Houston hates the free market now.

Free markets are great...lying to Congress and leveraging your monopolistic power to dominate other industries not-so-much.
Of course according to you and Bernie we can just put the govt in charge of it all...

Amazon is right at 50% of the overall online market. Overall. Which means some they are more in some and less in others.2001400ex said:

You can still buy the exact same shit from Walmart and local stores.HoustonHusky said:

That being said. Do you realize the whole point of monopoly rules? Like to prevent price gouging. Explain how Amazon is price gouging, then we can talk. -
Sounds like you hate them for being successful.HoustonHusky said:

I love that two of the biggest socialists on the bored are now shilling for the benefits of Monopolies...comical. There are all sorts of reasons why having a single entity dominate a sector of the economy is bad (i.e. its much more than "price gouging" bad).
For the non-HondoFS of the world a more detailed article on the damage of having these supersized tech giants have on the overall economy. Don't agree with everything he pushes here, but do agree with a good chunk and think there is a lot to think about:

Well, a lot to think about if you aren't HondoFS... -
Sounds like Amazon is a great company that New York would welcome with open arms and some tax breaks

I didn't realize Amazon had hit 50%. That should be a concern for any American, especially in a market that is growing as rapidly as e-commerce and as the market grows Amazon's share is only increasing.HoustonHusky said:

Kind of. I mean it's our choice to buy from them among many other retailers. It's not a situation like the phone companies and utilities where there was only one provider and you have to deal with it. I'm more worried about cell phone companies right now where there's really only 3 big players with widespread service so they can charge an arm and a leg.GDS said:

Keep buying Amazon you lazy tools and watch your favorite brick and mortar shops disappear, as well as your jerbs.

I see Amazon as a bit of a quandary for monopoly laws. Many things they sell aren't there's per say. They stock the items others are selling and act as a seeking agent. They sell a couple other ways as well.
If they're offering a service to other retailers or manufacturers I wonder how that would factor in. -
I don’t have a favorite brick and mortar store. Amazon has lots of the same shitty jerbs as the brick and mortar stores.oregonblitzkrieg said:Keep buying Amazon you lazy tools and watch your favorite brick and mortar shops disappear, as well as your jerbs.

That would be like complaining because the asswipe you bought at Costco was Kirkland brand.Pitchfork51 said:Wait the fact that all the cords and shit I buy are Amazon basics isn't buy design???
That being said, Anker makes better cords anyway.
