Rob Gronkowski becomes CBD advocate, says he is now ‘pain-free’

The Throbber has done quit a bit of work in the cannabis industry (aside from edible consumption). Still somewhat skeptical on the magical claims of CBD. Most certainly there is a placebo effect but, personally, have not experienced any noticeable benefit from the use of the product.
If CBD helps Gronk be Gronk, praise be.

I think it depends on the type of pain and your body type. My buddy who is a pharmacist. His wife has had back pain since the 90s, she's never been able to work because of it, she could barely hold a conversation, and she was crazy addicted to oxy and shit. He took her to the pot shop about 18 months ago and got her CBD stuff. She now actually wakes up before noon, is coherent and uses about 1/3 of the drugs she used to use every month.PurpleThrobber said:The Throbber has done quit a bit of work in the cannabis industry (aside from edible consumption). I don't know, it doesn't do much for me for to each their own. -
I know it works for some people. I have witnessed the behavioral and physical changes in two friends with cancer and another with horrible back pain that comes and goes without notice but leaves him flat on his back for days after it shows up. They all swear by it.

Trust me. There's a LOT of snake oil salesmen out there.Bendintheriver said:I know it works for some people. There's some crazy science/chemistry behind getting proper CBD isolate. "A Beautiful Mind" shit. But since it's currently unregulated by FDA, there's a host of manufacturers who give no shits about quality or science other than slapping a CBD label on some capsules or producing some lotions or tinctures.
Like I said, IRL I've done some work on CBD outfits - had about an hour long conference call yesterday with a cannabis company. There are legitimate companies, there are scams. Same for the products. Absorption rate is about 6%, so it takes a SHITLOAD to have appreciable results. And, for now, the stuff ain't cheap.
The industry is going to end up like dot.com bust. Lots of posers. Huge shakeout of pretenders happening as we speak.

I have tried about every form of CBD with no result for chronic pain.
The only success I have had is with a topical application for muscle spasms of a product that also contains THC.
After 15 years of hydros and oxy I'm willing to try most anything.
The crackdown on drugs I rely on to function has me very concerned. -
Do you think there is some merit to the "real" CBD products out there having benefit or do you attribute most of the benefits to placebo affect even with the good quality CBD products?PurpleThrobber said:

From what I remember THC will actually help the CBD to process in your system and do what it does. Doesn't have to be enough to remotely get you "high" but it will show up on a drug test.Blu82 said:I have tried about every form of CBD with no result for chronic pain.

Wife uses some "rilly rill" CBD from a trusted vendor for her chronic pain from years as a D1 sprinter. We have a lot of friends in the actual "industry" and so have a pretty good idea of who is cutting corners and who is dedicated to quality.
Lots of reading and personal experiences lead me to the belief that CBD does have lots of benefits for chronic pain/nausea but not the 10,000 other things advocates claim it does.
YMMV but pm me if you want a recommendation for a California vendor. Can't speak for Washington. Might have an Oregon recommendation. -
Just wait until you get your meds dialed in.Blu82 said:I have tried about every form of CBD with no result for chronic pain.

I'm not a medical expert so can't say definitively. It's all about the Benjamins to the Throbber. There are certain 'soothing' effects of other ingredients in things like lotions and salves - like the menthol/minty shit they put in icy hot.GDS said:

I do know there is variance in the science and level of expertise between the various players in the industry. Lots of posers. LOTS of posers. The chemistry is mind-boggling. I've been in a guy's office and his whiteboard looked like something out of "A Beautiful Mind".
Caveat emptor at this stage of the game, bitches.

I might also add....stay the fuck out of being a grower. You will lose your shirt.
