FWIW, the 270 lb alleged beast of a TE from UW only did 20 reps.
-
He did 6 more than ASJ. LOL.
-
Holy shit. That guy is strong for the frame he has
-
Just like Nip! Or was it Nap?
-
Good for Antavius Sims getting 17 reps. He had a great spring game. What round I'd he expected to go in?

Clowney only had 21 as well. ASJ with 20? That is fucking weak. Miami punter Pat O'Donnell had 23 reps.

What up wit DAT guy?

No Oregon contingency present to cheat for him.fivehundredmileDAWG said:What up wit DAT guy?

This might be the new clubhouse leader for 2014 Doog Post O' The Year.LevelPar said: -
Bench press is overrated and something that just doesn't apply anymore. Some little skinny jeans wearing guy said that last year and we all know how often he is correct.TierbsHsotBoobs said:FWIW, the 270 lb alleged beast of a TE from UW only did 20 reps.

Was just thinking that the midget had said something uninformed and FS like that.He_Needs_More_Time said:

Bench press isn't necessarily overrated, but I always found it dumb that the combine put so much stock into it. Squats, dead lifts, and cleans are much better indicators of functional strength. I bet ASJ can't squat 305 or deadlift 405.He_Needs_More_Time said:

I wouldn't call it overrated but it certainly isn't underrated. Sione Potato was ranked as high as he was because he had a ridiculous bench press. You certainly don't want some noodle armed faggot (75K) but just because your strong doesn't mean you don't suck at football.He_Needs_More_Time said:

Isn't that more than our best olineman last year? Fuck

Give Ivan some credit fuckos'. ASJ would rather suck beers and watch duck dynasty than work out. Sankey was dialed in, understood Ivan and look at the results. One could argue Sankey was one of the best all-around skill guys/running backs. I'm proud of him. He might be a starting running back in the NFL next year. How coo is that?
-
I actually agree with this. Guys don't get stronger if they aren't willing to work. I think the lack of development for some guys is an indictment of their work ethic far more than Ivan's coaching. Too bad some of our guys chose to match Sark's physique rather than Ivan's.puppylove_sugarsteel said:Give Ivan some credit fuckos'. ASJ would rather suck beers and watch duck dynasty than work out. HTH -
Muema just cost himself an NFL career.

That ultimately falls on Sark for recruiting pussies who don't want to work hard to get strong. Part of recruiting isn't just finding the most talented guys but finding those who have the drive.EsophagealFeces said:

Pete Carroll has often said his #1 thing he looks for in a player is does he love football? He said if a guy loves football he'll do what it takes to be great. Now I know that sounds like a no shit statement but do you think Aaron Curry "loved" football? I don't. He was into religion which is fine but don't draft a guy #4 overall who doesn't love football. -
Sankey is pressing more than a collegedoog stock tip.
-
Looks like Sankey had a good combine overall. He ran and jumped as well as or better than some of the big name guys who were expected to really impress in that setting. All his measurables, including the size and strength #s, were solid. Looks like he helped his draft stock a bit or at least solidified it.
-
The combine is full of conflictive thinking.
ie: Bench press.
Exercise of "strength"? Yeah, kind of. Does it apply to football? To some degree. Combine guys get all hard when an athlete puts up good numbers on the bench press.
Yet, at the same time "short arms" is seen as a negative in the game of football.
Well, "short arms" helps with bench as you have shorter levers, less distance to travel. Of course all things being equal the guy with the shorter arms should be able to put up more reps. Does that make him a worse football player on the field?
Durant can't put up any reps on the bench. Dummies still make fun of him for this.
I noticed Carey ran a 4.7 yesterday. -
Sankey > Carey just like it's supposed to be.
-
The Durant comparison is funny just because in the NBA combine they only have to lift 185 not 225. Durant could not get it up 1 time. That is basketball this is football. What is pathetic is ASJ who has been in a weight lifting program all through high school and 3-4 years in a D1 program only putting up 225 20 times. The kid is scouted to be a starting TE in the NFL. 225 is way less than his body weight and maybe it shows that he did not put in the maximum effort heading into the combine.
-
When has ASJ ever put in maximum effort?
-
Sankey's killing it at the combine so far. He's top 5 in four out of 6 drills he's participated in, including first in two.
40: 4.49 (tied 9th out of 33 RB's tested)
Bench reps: 26 (2nd out of 26 tested)
Vert: 35.5 (15th out of 33 tested)
Broad jump: 126 (tied 4th out of 33)
3 cone: 6.75 (1st out of 23)
20 yard shuttle: 4.00 (1st out of 22)
60 yard shuttle: not tested yet
