I am aware of this in the context that West Coast teams, that have to travel east for games before a certain time, are physically hindered from the early start. It's also why West Coast teams dominate Monday Night Football (and other primetime games). East coast body clocks are not at peak levels during primetime, even though the effects of jet lag flying west and gaining three hours are far less significant than flying east and losing them. -
