Welcome to the Hardcore Husky Forums. Folks who are well-known in Cyberland and not that dumb.
It's well documented that because of the body's circadian rhythms, football players who live on the west coast do not perform their best when playing before noon or 1pm pacific. If you move games to 9am local you will not only destroy tailgating, you will not only piss off fans to have to get up insanely early hours to drive in for games, but you will create a worse product on the field, increase variance (making it more likely for the underdogs to win and even more likely your conference will be shutout from the playoffs) and in the event any of these 9am games are against teams from the central or eastern time zones, you will be putting your schools at an actual home field disadvantage.
Of all the dumbass ideas you have had during your chinsanely chincompetent reign of terror, this one is probably the worst of the lot.

I also assumed that it did not impact home games.

It's also why West Coast teams dominate Monday Night Football (and other primetime games). East coast body clocks are not at peak levels during primetime, even though the effects of jet lag flying west and gaining three hours are far less significant than flying east and losing them.
Where do we send our nominations for 2019?

But the rest of the season? That time slot is basically clear. In the SEC, it’s the old home of the JP Game. JP stands for Jefferson-Pilot, the insurance company that used to sponsor the worst game in each week’s SEC television offering. Three guys named Dave would incorrectly identify penalties and give viewers first-quarter scores in the third quarter. CBS owns the right to pick the best SEC game each week, and it broadcasts that game at 3:30 Eastern. ESPN grabs the second best to show at 7 p.m. Eastern. The SEC Network grabs another intriguing one to kick off at 7:30 Eastern.”
According to this somewhat confusing section of an Andy Staples piece, the other conferences leave this time slot mostly clear.
P12 should lean into the Pac12 after dark shit. Start the last conf game of the day at 10pm pst. Not kidding, that would get more eyeballs back east from young degens getting home from the bars wanting something to bet on than the noon est slot.
The PAC should stop acting like it's the WAC, or the Big Sky conference trying to break in. Play your games in the afternoon, with a mixture of night games just the way all other big boy conferences do it. Do you think the Big 12, ACC, and especially SEC give two fucks what the other conference game schedules look like? Play your teams in the best position to succeed, and if the game is worthwhile degenerates from all across the nation will watch. Chances of folks watching 10pm Eastern kickoffs(and remembering the game) vs those who just turn over when bama is up 45-3 again will be similar if not more willing mid day to watch your product.
B, get your team on TV. The timing of your games isn't the problem, it's the fact that nobody in the fucking world has your fucking tv channel. If the games were on ABC and mixture of espn's you would get many more eyballz.
The morons who are saying, "well, the Big 10/12 are putting games on at noon eastern"......that's b/c for half those games IT'S FUCKING NOON WHEN THE GAME STARTS. The other half are at 11am. It's not 9 am which is what we're talking about. Playing football at 9am is asinine. You want some noon pacific starts, sweet, lets have a great morning of tailgating and good afternoon of football.
From the game experience, to the tailgating, to the fucking weather always being dreadful it's just beyond fucking dumb. Why don't we make all our supporters miserable to try to suck up to a conference and entire coast of people who epitomize being self centered tight wound anal cavities for people. Guess what, they don't care about your conference.
Finally do people really think that playing all these games is somehow going to bring in a bushel of new east coastish recruits? Get fucking real. Our conference will live and die by the west coast, and keeping our own players home. Maybe work on getting 5*'s out of your backyard b/f trying to put your conference in the east coast.
I couldn’t disagree more with playing games at 10 pst. No one coming back from bars is going to watch that shit. They’re either getting laid, watching porn, or about to pass out while attempting either of the above. 9 am pst is an equally retarded idea, but c’mon. No way any East coast fans are going to start a 3.5 hour game at 1 am. I live in DC, and stay up for every Husky game Larry Scott allows me an option to watch...no chance I’m waiting until 1 am to begin watching a game...I’ll have already watched 8 hours of football, zero chance I’m going to sit down to watch Oregon State v. Cal that late. For sure no one who isn’t from the West Coast is going to do that. The answer lies in improving the competitiveness of the league, and winning a Natty sooner than later. That’s the only way PAC 12 gets eyeballs, regardless of scheduling time of games.
1) fans aren't able to get to the stadium on time. some will be hung over, some will have kids and there's just no fucking chance either of those demos can do it.
2) the 3 teams they "showcase" at 9am PDT will be so unworthy of national tv that the ratings will come back flatlined anyway. As if people in Big10 or SEC country will give a shit to watch Oregon State v Colorado when they can watch Bama go in dry on Tuscaloosa Jr College?
This is just one more example (private equity...LOL) of Larry Scott having zero strategy and praying something works.
If Larry wants to pilot shit he should go to the XFL
